Can anyone here compare these two? I know I want headphones in the signature of the 668B. All the reviews I see for the 681 series are for the standard, which is notably compressed and bass-heavy. I haven't found a single review for the 681B, which should theoretically be like the 668B but better.

This thread here goes into quite a bit of detail about the two models.

It seems maybe the HD668 is considered slightly superior but it might be more down to personal preferences.

I just got my HD681 (the standard red version, not the B or the F)

If I have this right, the standard red HD681 is the bassiest. They definitely aren't that bassy. The bass is balanced and goes deep. The highs are very bright and can be fatiguing. IMO they may need another layer of foam between the ear and the driver to mellow them out a bit.

Might get around to writing a review if anyone is interested

B = bass
F = Flat
no letter = moderately V-shaped.

I thought it's

no letter = "bassiest"
B = balanced
F = flat

At least that's the case with 681. Btw I don't own any of Superlux at this time but I got Samson SR850. Not trying to be a smartass btw :wink:

I really want to try and head towards the side of properly produced sound. Yet I am also starting to get into dubstep as of late... and am a big basshead! I really like the majority of what I've heard on the HD681s but everyone is contradictory when comparing them to other models... Not to mention BASS so I think after sitting here narrowing down like 30 models to get to where I am now I'm going to have to restart and go in another direction but keep these notes for later thanks guys!
