Definitely - the headphone out is very noisy. Think using a good amp helps too - I ended up breaking a Subpac M2 because the Line In was all over the place (led flashing red). Some dacs can output multiple signals at the same time (RCA/XLR) so this is what I am currently using. I have seen Subpac have released a new version (X1) although the price has tripled. Anyone tried the new version yet?

How does it all work if you take everything in consideration?

Speaking of a subpac, with headphones attached. You guy know subpac? It’s basically a rucksack, and it’s just covering the sub frequencies, not having an actual subwoofer, but more so having the subwoofer experience through the subpac through the actual body…. BUT now the question! I’m having headphones connected to my amp. Firstly, will it not interfere with the sub frequencies from the headphones, and secondly … it is said, that the subpac as an output for itself. How to connect it also ur amp, or u know, do u have it on an different output, and then would it not suffer from a lower source, like the Mac out in comparison to the amp out… questions, questions , questions. ….

Hopefully someone is in use of such a thing and can bring some light. And I hope u get my main concerns but I think this could be interesting stuff, like in general I don’t want to miss out. 😗 thank you

Hi. I’ve had the S2 model for years. Quite simply for best or optimal performance. Don’t use the headphone input on the Subpac module. Use the line-in connection only.
Get a y-splitter cable (3.5mm male to dual 3.5 female ) and connect your amp and headphones to that line out y-splitter cable connection.
You’ll get the best performance and results. Let me know how that works out for you. 😉

I use it and have had it for more than 8 years. My version is the S2. I never connected my headphones directly to the Subpac, rather I sent one headphone out on my amp (previously a THX AAA 789, and now a Topping A70 Pro) to the phones and the other headphone out to the Subpac. (Alternatively you could also use a splitter if your headphone amp has only one output.)

It works just fine that way. You do have to dial in the Subpac so it seems like it's barely there, adding something like an extra half octave to the bass you feel in your body without it becoming obtrusive, and, therefore, disruptive. Done that way, it's excellent and helps you experience headphones more like speakers.

But it’s like a duplicate of bass as u already here the bass’s over the headphones, right?

No. All it's adding is the effect of deep bass on the body, which is something the headphones totally lack.
