Regarding the waiting list for the X9000.
I made last week my order directly to the Portuguese distributor.
Today he told me that only in August he will receive.
Not bad 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

ps- i will play with the L300 Limited until then and maybe buy a 007 for the waiting time🤣🤣🤣

I’m being told late February for my X9K. It keeps getting pushed back (apparently there is a parts shortage or something). I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually arrives closer to the summer. I hope not though, but it is what it is :triportsad:

Same here - 2/22 - hope it's a lucky number. Allegedly Stax are at least getting better in accurately predicting production and shipment schedules.

Perhaps we should talk to our dealer to get on the SR-X 9100 pre-order list, the way things are going being in a pole position for the eventual SR-X 9000 successor may be faster than being too far down among the current backorders ... ?

recently 1 or 2pairs of parallel imported X9000 appear on places like review33, just a warm reminder to everyone that it might be worth the wait rather than puchase from those reseller as STAX & AD normally wont recongize parallel imported items.

After reading through the posts in this thread and others, I am close to ordering an x9000. My first and only estat is a CRBN, but I also want to experience the best that Stax has to offer. If someone is in a position to clarify why the x9000 is unique or stands above the CRBN and the Susvara it would be helpful. I have an iESL driven by an iCAN Pro and a (switchable) Ragnarok2 but I am planning to buy a Mjolnir Carbon soon. Any insights or advice would be appreciated.

Not good to hear. Probably means mine will also be pushed back again. One more time or so and yea, I'll stop looking for it until late Q2.

OOopps,
I must have jumped the queue :smiling_imp:
I also expected a long waiting list, but obviously I was lucky & I’ve got mine just a few days ago, in Switzerland.

First impression: Just marvelous  – the best STAX yet (and I owned most TOTL Staxes since about 2000…)

Here a short link :

the most relevant info I've read so far from Rejean.
And I agree 100 %

Urs
PS: Sorry I know, it's bad manner to divert to another Forum - but so what :)

Hallo,
here are my impressions Campari gibt 009 to x9000 on a Paltauf ESD headamp:

The most striking thing is the change in the stage view. The 9000 pushes the stage further forward, further away from the listener. You no longer sit so directly next to or even between the musicians. The 9000 includes the space more into the sound. With classical music recorded in a church, when I close my eyes I see not only the orchestra but also the nave in front of me. But this effect also tempts you to turn up the volume more. (You would have to measure whether this is subjective or objective).
Nevertheless, all the details are there - yes, even more. The separation of the individual sound sources increases again significantly, especially the staggering in depth. More 3D.
Increased speech intelligibility is another step that actually belongs to the strengths of the 009.
Mids and highs are somewhat softened and, in connection with the larger stage distance, make the 9000 seem more suitable for everyday use. Comfort and weight top anyway. Processing also expresses sublime. Clear point for the 9000.

The more complex and dynamic the music becomes - and therefore especially in classical music with large orchestras - the clearer the differences between the two Stax models become. And all these differences have nothing to do with tonality or frequency measurements, but with precision and whatever has to do with it.
With smaller, gentle jazz ensembles, the difference shrinks audibly. But even with all the strengths of the 009, there is still a small step that is expressed in an increased naturalness that makes it even easier for the ear (or actually the brain) to follow the music. Here a point still clearly goes to the 9000.

I then have problems with blues from BABA Blues recorded live in the basement. The distanced nature of the 9000 doesn't suit me as much as the 009's right in the middle. Also, the electric guitars with their distortions don't demand more cleanliness or naturalness. Nobody knows what it really sounds like anyway.

Still on the special topic of the OEM, the bass. The 9000 has more bass and goes deeper than its predecessor. It has more bass than a CRBN fresh out of the box, but not as defined. The bass quality of the CRBN is significantly better. Let me compare it with the unrecorded CRBN after 5 minutes. In all other areas, the CRBN still has to get used to it.

Theme Price:
Not an issue for me because 7000.00 is not an objective criterion. That's a lot of money for some, peanuts for others. One works for 3 months, the other 3 hours or not at all. One of them has to feed a family, the other buys aluminum rims.

Probably the fastest headphone you can get, very dynamic, ultra-resolving, massive stage with precise separation, extended from top to bottom. It is like estat dialed up to 11. Based on the standard KGSSHV, the Mjolnir Carbon will amplify these traits to the maximum. (Don't skimp on source either.)
