Just got a pair of used 002 earpieces to upgrade my 001 set. And made this 6pins to 5pins adapter by rivet, SATA socket, hot glue, heat shrink. Looks stupid but works.

I think it can be much shorter.

Yes I bought them for office use these are my brief impressions:

STAX SR-003mk2 with CES-A1 now has more bass (due to snug fit, very comfortable eartips than the stock eartips) but will loose the top-end treble performance and Soundstage. Trade off of going closed back not that I'm complaining, can use them at work without annoying folks around.

Not distorted but I would say that the sound signature is changed (to my ears). And yes sound preference is a very personal thing so you might want to try it.

I never expected that! You have to introduce this first. Stax has released the SR-001 mk2 and SR-003 in 1997. And now you can rebuild the headphones and upgrade enormously as I mean. Good isolation. Comfort not comparable to earlier. The signature has remained, even with more depth than before. Okay, the soundstage goes back slightly, but still I'm blown away. The silicone parts are so comfortable and fit perfectly! Additionally with an earhook (for example from Audeze iSine like mine) headbanging is no problem!
