Hello fellow Head-Fiers.

I'm after a bit if advice as my 2 week old Fiio E7 seems to be broken/breaking already.

I have my iPod connected to the Fiio via a LOD which in turn feeds my headphones.

Music plays fine except when my headphone connector turns in the headphone out of the Fiio i get a lot of static and sometimes briefly lose sound in one channel (same for both headphone outs)

I have tested my Ultrasone 580 and IE8 and both suffer the same static sound from the Fiio.

(also tested both headphones directly from the iPod and no static is heard so obviously a problem with the Fiio?)

I have had a search and could not find any answers... Is this a trait or a fault?

All help appreciated as usual.

Cheers.

I too have this exact problem.  I just got my E7 (from Amazon) this past Saturday and have used it with my Ipod and Iphone with the Fiio L3 connector.  I have tried the L3 line with my E5 with no issues so I know it has to be the E7 that is the issue.  It seems to be fine until I move around a bit and the static kicks in.  Almsot seems like the connctor on the L3 line is too small for the input on the E7.  If I move the plug around, i can easily simulate the issue.  Again, the same L3 line works totally fine with my E5.  and the L3 line is also brand new.

While I would gladly contact Fiio technical support, it is easier for me to just return it to amazon for an exchange.  However, if it is s setting i am missing, I would appreciate it if you could let me know before I return it.

Thanks!

I bet it could be an issue of dirty jack on the E7 line-in. Get a 3.5mm plug and plug it in and out of the line-in socket, also twist it when it is inserted.

It is definitely a jack issue but it's weird. If I use the 3.5mm cable that came with the e7 or the cheap one that came with my e5 then it works fine. Using the fiio l3 iPod cable, I can easily recreate the static by turning it in the jack. It seems like the l3 plug is a bit too small for the e7 yet works flawlessly with my e5. Strange. I sent an email to fiio. Hoping to hear back soon.
