Soundmagic HP150/HP151 Impressions Thread

They do have some swiveling action. They can sit flat on a surface with the headband sticking up, kinda like the HP100:

But I can't see how to make them turn to lie flat like the M50:

At least I assumed that's what Stillhart meant.

Yes it was.  Can you please post a pic of the case open with the headphones sitting inside?  I'm curious if it's less snug with the bigger case...

Would you compare HP150 with M50's bass respond ?
ATH M50 has great sub bass that kicks in from the throat down to the chest. This is a perfect balance type of bass to me.
Or is the bass more like HE400 which is tight, squeaky clean and a little flatter not so boomy ?

Okay, let's chill guys. We, myself included, might be overwhelming him with all the wishes. Let's give him some time to actually enjoy his new purchase :)

Currently, he is the only one on hand with access to the HP150. We can't help it if we are a bit excited. Also, no one asked for a response within any amount of time. As far as I am concerned, he can answer these requests at his leisure. I just don't want to forget if I have a question, so I ask while I remember.

tl;dr cel4145, take your time, man. Enjoy the new headphones.

HP150 sitting in case:

Everything else has to wait for now :)

I also think for the most part, one should assume that the HP100 and HP150 will sound the same. So I suspect Skyfall can get a good idea of what the bass sounds like from reading the HP100 thread.

K612 I can compare a little since I doubt people have compared it to the HP100. But better that I listen to them enough that I am used to the HP150s a good bit before doing comparisons. :)

Oh, I will say that Clip Zip drives them OK to moderate volumes. DX50 does much better and sounds better too.

Let me know once it gets to your Asgard 2 set up. My HP200 absolutely shines on it, so I'm eager to read your results

The Asgard 2 and my ODAC are gone (sold). I have an Audio-GD NFB-11 at customs in Ohio that should be here by the end of next week :)

Okay. Thanks.
I guess I'm still unclear whether there's a different between HP100 and 150 since no one has both.

The measurements on the boxes say no difference.

Someone could email Soundmagic and see what they say about the drivers. And ask if they are supposed to sound different.

Weird thing is all Sound magic headphones are all at the same price at Amazon. I remember longtime ago HP100 used to price $150.

They might have the same FR but it only tells you the quantity of each freq ie. Bass respond and how bright the treble is but not necessarily the same quality. The same goes with other phones too.
