in terms of impact & texture -always compared to the 10TH- what do you think about the BASS of the DTE900 ???
Not the one you quoted, but my take.
DTE900: Cleaner, faster, more visceral and overall better.
Bass is the thing many people has told me was the negative about 10th, I also thought the same.

i am THAT CLOSE to pull the trigger so many many thanks on your take @Leonarfd cause bass response matters to me maybe the most including the overall sense of air across the FR and the stage of course..........best wishes for the year to come man...:beerchug:
if i am completely totally satisfyed with the 10TH's Bass response overall then things can only get better according to your opinion..............

I agree with Leonard's assessment of the bass difference. The DTE900 has a tighter and more impactful bass. I found the 10th bass to be boomy and mushy. Both has the about the same amount of quantity of bass, but DTE900 has better quality. I was surprised that so many people complimented the 10th bass. I guess it comes down to preference.

BTW, what is everyone's preferred switch settings with the DTE900? I am enjoying UD [normal] and DD [with a 25Ω impedance adapter.]
I think mine came UU by default, but I could be wrong. I only messed with the switches when I first got it and I preferred UU so they've been set that way ever since.

Yeah, same here, although I've noticed the 10th AE's bass quality has gotten better with more burn-in and cable/tip rolling. The bass is still not quite as tight and controlled as the DTE900, but it's nowhere near as pillowy as it was out of the box with the stock cable and ear tips.

UU, and with Azla MAX tips. This IEM just gets my feet tapping every time. :man_dancing:

If I'm ever in some stupidly specific situation where only my shin muscles can save me, I'll be able to thank the DTE900 for helping me get so swol down there haha.

I also tried DD with the impedance adapter, but it seemed to me that it lost dynamism, and I stayed with the UU option.

Thanks for all the input, y'all.
After trying UU, I now think my preferred config is either UD or UU.
I do like the DD w. impedance adapter, but agree that it loses dynamism and some of it's "mojo."
Not sure I would want to keep it on DU long term.
BTW, the DTE900 is going to ruin me as other earphones just seem to be lacking when it comes to details, dynamics and "oomph."
Lastly, I have switched to an all copper cable (NiceHCK Grey Rhino) and I think it synergizes well.

How's the dte900 in comparison with ier z1r.
Very different iems.

Z1R has better bass than DTE900 (not surprisingly), more sub-bass, more rumble, more spacious, soundstage is wider too.

DTE900 has better seperation, more forward mids, and suited with more various music genres.

Z1R is a legendary iem, no doubt about it, especially if you love bass, but DTE900 is a better all-rounder for me.

To my ears DTE900 is better than Z1R (DTE900 has a great bass response too), but you shouldn't trust other's ears. There's a Headfi user said that Fiio FH9 is better than DTE900, I bought a used FH9 to try out, and...meh, have to sold Fh9 afterward, DTE900 is just way better at everything. :dt880smile:

Since DTE900 is highly praised by many users here, it has newer drivers, better technicalities compare to Z1R, so I would recommended it if you can buy a used one, or if $700 (excluding taxes) is not a big amount of money for you.

Seem to be late to the party but here is another opinion in line with @Leonarfd, @Sampson1 & @kaeswiss:
Especially the bass of the DTE900 is a (imo: significant) step up compared to the 10th AE. Faster, with more weight and reaching deeper. If you like bass the DTE900 is a very good choice in the <1k price bracket. Compared to the 10th AE the DTE900 is also superior technically wise and has a larger soundstage.

Still I would not say, that the DTE900 is a direct upgrade to the 10th AE in my book. For me it is a complementary set as the 10th AE has a different - I would call it somewhat old fashioned and to my ears very tempting - timbre to it. At times I simply want my music presented in the way the 10th AE does it....
