I wonder how the Z and the F players fare when compared to the Clip + / Clip Zip. I can honestly say that the Clips' sound quality to my ears, better that of the X Walkman's.

Clip sounds more congested, less dynamic to me.  I like the Clip and Clip +, but to me... the Z is better.  I really only use the Clip+ that I have for an Ultra-Portable setup.  Otherwise I use the Z for everything else.

I second that and i don't even think the Clip + can even match the X let alone the A, and Z walkman.  Just like you, I found the Clip + to be congested and not as clear sounding vs. the Walkmans.  Though for performance to price ratio, nothing will ever match the Sansa Clip lines.

The only failing of Sony's Walkman MP3 Players is the lack of expandable memory (SD Card Slot) . If they had an sd slot, man.... they would be the best DAP's ever.

Yeah, no doubt.  I wish Sony would wake up one day and add the expansion slot.  Don't hold your breath on that though.

This new Sony Walkman still can't compete with Apple's 160GB iPod memory. So frustrating. I love Apple but they need serious competition. Sony still won't give it to them.

And if you want more than 32GB here in the USA, you have to import it....

If it supports flac 'nativly' and it is 32 GB I really dont think SD-card slot is a must. Ofcourse expandable slot is great but 32 GB native flac is still great in my book. I rather get that famous walkman sound quality with flac support than a cowon with sd card slot. No offense to the cowon people, they are great but they still a head behind the sony.

But if you plan to load your DAP with FLAC, then 32GB really isn't that much space....
