Been living with the F806 for a bit over a day now. It's strange going to an Android device (my first one) from the X1060. I can't quite get through the menus as quickly or naturally as on the X (by nature it's much simpler there). I need to spend some more time to get totally familiar with it before I get more in depth with my observations... But I will say sonically it's definitely an improvement, mainly being more spacious sounding, and having perhaps a touch more sparkle and life in the highs. Everywhere else it sounds pretty much akin to the X. But just those two minor differences combine to help hear deeper into recordings, which is nice. Makes me wish I could hear the Z now to see if it's identical to that S-master MX brethren. Battery life is appallingly bad unless you listen while in airplane mode, and leave it alone without fiddling/activating the screen. I'll be shocked if I ever get anywhere near the claimed 36 hours for music playback. I find I like poweramp over the stock player, and like the flexibility that Android gives for this purpose.

Thanks for sharing.  Can you tell a difference in sound quality b/w the Poweramp vs. stock Sony music amp playing Flac file?

At the moment I don't have any Flac loaded, but will get a couple put on tonight and have a listen, and let you know what I hear between the players. If I recall, the F800 is supposed to be able to play Flac, so it'll be interesting to see if the Sony player can do it, and if there is any audible difference to Poweramp. I already like the gapless support with this app.

For sure. I'll take a few more over the next couple days with the X, and also my iPhone 4. I can tell you that it's almost the exact same size as the iPhone... just a tad narrower (only a mm or two), and a hair thinner. I wonder if they did that on purpose since so many portable amps are designed around the iPhone/ipod touch.

No problem. I'm more about the short impressions lately because I've been too busy (house issues) to do detailed in-depth ones unfortunately. Maybe once I get more familiar with the F806 I can find some time to do one. Actually I'd enjoy just shooting lots of images with a better camera and just post ongoing sonic observations. 
 
For amps, the Arrow does great with it too. It's quite fun to hear my music singing along with all the more fidelity and spaciousness because of a better source in the mix.

nah they're baiting Apple to see if they are pathetic enough to sue over a form factor... look forward to the photo's.

I had a listen to a couple Flac files, and these ears can't really hear any difference over the same tracks in 320kb. And I couldn't hear a noticeable difference between the players either, unfortunately. Poweramp is certainly no worse sounding than Sony's stock player. Having gapless support with Poweramp is quite nice though, since I've been used to a quick break in tracks that flow into one another for so long with the X. It's really nice to have that gapless functionality now.

why cant sony just give their android phones a LOD function.... does apple have some stupid patent on that as well?  Why dont ANY android phones give you the option to use a DAC??? I know there was some amp/dac coming for the S3 but idk if it works for anything else

You won't notice much difference b/w Flac vs. 320 kbps but it is there and mainly on very minute details and a more solid image placement.  I always find the 320 kbps MP3 to have some what fuzzier image on a revealing headphones/IEM such as JH13pro.  I also notice a firmer bass presence as well, still, not an immediate difference.
