I am planning on getting the latest iPod touch 64GB with the Sony XBA-4 earphones. My question is, will the sound be better if I used a portable amp? I read some previous threads and some mentioned that they heard no difference when using a portable amp. Does this mean it also depends on your earphones and your player/source? Will the Sony XBA-4 earphones sound better with a portable amp when hooked-up to 5th generation iPod touch or is the built-in amp on the 5th generation iPod touch good enough (did they even change anything to the amp?)?

The XBA4 are very low impedance IEMs and Sony DAPs like F, Z series walkmen are best to drive these but iPod Touch can drive these too and AMPs will improve the sound quality.

Thanks.

If I decide to go with the iPod touch, which amp would you recommend? Should be less than $100.

The Fiio E11, iBasso T3, E17 are pretty good for the price and they have bass booster too.
