I'm not sure about earlier in the year, I didn't have an issue finding them. Though the problem right now is that they've quit manufacturing them, though I'm not sure how quickly they'll go out of stock.

Edit: Yay finally a Head-Fi'er

How would you guys compare the xb700 to the xb500? i have the 700 and once listened to the 500 in a store. but when for the 700,

From my point of view, the Sony XB500 does have more quantity of bass than a pair of XB700's, but the bass sounds very muddy. However, the Sony XB700 has slightly less bass, but its more refined and sounds better.

These headphones are great I'm a basshead and even though I own some better sounding headphones I find myself coming back to these, I like how warm they sound. I noticed they're discontinued so I bought two extra pairs.

yes I have and like many others say, the bass on the xb500 is punchier or that it has more mid bass. But the low bass theres only SLIGHTLY more on the xb700. I like the xb500's more because they are much warmer than the xb700's. IMO

Same thoughts here, I also preferred XB500 due to this for its punchy impactful bass and subbass was nearly the same on both, a bit more low-mid presence (the XB700 lacked there) and non-exaggerated highs. However in stock form I do find XB500 just a bit too muddy in the mids due to the upper-bass is too much forward (the frequency response shows it goes pretty linearly up to 300Hz before rolling off) so if you got an EQ available lower slightly 250Hz (1-2dB or so) and give tiny boost at like 1000 - 16000Hz (1-2dB or so) and it will sound pretty nice.

Yeah I will try what you said (EQ), one time I accidently changed the eq in my iphone to bass booster. and it was god awful mids were beyond muddy lol. Actually everything was muddy besides the bass.

Reviving the thread from the dead

I have been wanting to try xb500 for past 5 years and it never happened well I'm getting them this week. My past experiences with warm cans athpro700mk2 was so not good and that was my last warm can until dt990 pro which I don't consider as warm.

Let's hope for the best
