Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread
Apr 5, 2023 at 3:46 AM Post #2,851 of 2,999
Sony has released the WF-C700N. They look very similar to the Earbuds S. Anybody can see the difference between this and the WF-1000XM4? Or is the best (WF-1000XM5) yet to come?
On the website of Sony, I see the WF-C700N cannot handle High-Res audio, but it has DSEE.

The XM5 will likely be better in all aspects but probably also at a considerable price premium

Seems it's gone a bit quiet on any news of a wf-1000xm5... hope we see it soon, very happy with the xm4, had zero issues with it, but wouldn't mind it if the new version were a smidgen smaller and had better transparency mode.

Sony have usually released these end June or into July

Hi,

My XM4 is 1.5 years old. A couple of weeks ago,
I noticed that when it is charged, it warns me that the battery is low, and then turns off after a few minutes.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks

I have not, mine's older than yours (Jul '21). Is your firmware current?

I had similar a couple of months ago after the firmware update. I was just out of waranty but after a bit of hassling Sony Australia agreed to fix them free of charge. They then just replaced the buds.

previous firmware versions prior to current version fried the batteries in the xm4. Sony is well aware of this, and they are doing out of warranty replacements due to the issue. it may have been software 1.2. I'd look it up, the issue, and call Sony about your current battery issues. They will ask you to reset and try some things, but once you verify that the batteries still die extremely fast, they will replace them. Bought mine in 2020, and had them sitting in a drawer for the past 8 months. Once I began to read about the battery issue with the older firmware, I called Sony support.

Unfortunately, by the time I experienced these things, the warranty was no longer valid.
I updated from 1.4.3 to 2.0.0 today, I wonder if the battery life will improve.

My warranty has been expired for over 8 months. They still replaced it. Mention the 1.4.2 software issues, and you'll be fine. They've had to replace too many, so out of warranty doesn't matter as it is a well documented issue

For now, it works normally with fw 2.0.0.
If the error occurs again, I will try to replace it.
Thanks for the advice, have a nice weekend!

Unfortunately, even after the firmware update, it turns off when charged.
I will take it back to the dealer tomorrow.
Has the error been fixed in newer editions or are there similar problems?
