My XM4 sounds weak, I always have to keep volume at 100 to sound at normal level.
Anyone have the same issue?
Nope, I rarely have it at even 50% most of the time (iPhone)

If you are on Android you might have to do various magic tricks with developer options, the Sony Connect app and volume settings. There are many posts about it in this thread. On iPhone I’m hardly ever over 50% volume

The volume of the XM4 will be the combined result of the phone/DAP volume, and the volume set in the Sony app. For example, if both are set to 50%, then the resultant volume is 25% of whatever the max would be, one at 100% and the other at 50% the result would be 50%, and both at 100% would result in 100% volume. Best trick is to max out one of them and the fine tune as needed the other one.

No, comfortable volume for me is at 10 to 15 steps on my Xperia 1 II device and while out and about just under 50% volume.

Hearing does differ from ear to ear and depending on few external factors, it definitely varies.

Can you sleep on your side with these buds, so the bud is against the pillow without discomfort ?
I've slept them while listening to sound of rain for a few nights comfortably with no issues. One did fall out of my ear a couple times whilst deep asleep didn't even noticed. I'd also disabled controls on both sides when I had them on.

I use XM4 with my iphone 12 pro.
When I changed volume in Sony app, it changed the volume bar of iphone up and down as well, pls see attached photo. How to get 2 separate volume set?!?

On iPhone there is only one volume and I’ve never had a need to go over about 50% in any situation, 100% would make me deaf

you can’t. iPhone makes it easy with only one volume control and you shouldn’t be listening at levels that high tbh

Check iPhone Settings > Sounds & Haptics, headphone volume might be reduced there? Have you tried to connect them to your computer and see if the XM4 is volume limited there as well?

One other thing, when connected to iPhone, go to Bluetooth and select the Info button next to the XM4, there you'll see Device Type, select Headphone. There is a small note at that setting: "Specifying the type of device can ensure your Headphone Audio Level measurements are accurate."

Tks for your advice.
I've tried all your suggestion but it seems not working.
I've also just tried to connect the Xm4 to my laptop, playing youtube music at 100% computer volume & 90% youtube volume = normal level. Somehow I feel like using an inefficient headphone.
My FW version is 1.2.6

I doubt that there is anything wrong with your unit, I guess you just like your music LOUD

Other thing to try is a reset or initialize the XM4. https://www.sony.com/electronics/su...tooth-headphones/wf-1000xm4/articles/00264029

edit: What ear tips are you using? If using the supplied foam tips, try the smallest ones that give you a good fit. Foam tips compress and deform much easier than silicone tips. If using the foam tips, could be the tip opening is compressed / deformed making a smaller opening cutting off the volume. Tip insertion depth might also be something to consider. Maybe switch to a different tip, like silicone. If all else fails have a friend or family member try the XM4 and see how loud they can comfortably listen to music. Either they will have the same issue as yourself or they won't have a problem at all.
