I think they are selling to make way for the ZX2 instead.

+1

However, you can get two (2) used ZX-1 and one (1) new A17 for the price of the new ZX2 however.

USB DAC, yes, but not all USB DAC are supported and you must have the WMC-NWH10

Can I bypass the internal DAC of A15 via WMC-NWH10 to Leckerton UHA-6S MKII ?

If not, what are the external DACs (either portable or desktop) that work with Sony A15?

I found my problem with the cover art was using ID3v2.4, saving the tags as ID3v2.3 fixed it for me.

I think ID3v2.4 isn't supported on this device so my files were falling back to ID3v1, which doesn't support embedded images.

ah yes, I forgot about that. in fact v2.3 instead of v2.4 is a little like using mp3 instead of aac. you know that the second one can do better, but you stick with the first one for the universal compatibility. I feel bad forgetting about that when people mention troubles, but good job finding out on your own so fast!

Can some one of you report to me in which scenario the battery life of the sony decreases quicker and why?

a) Analogue line out like the fiio L5 cable
b) DIGITAL Line Out WMC-NWH10

thanks

I don't say the fiio x3 sucks but definitvely is on a different category on a "lower" category except for his amp section, but well i meant that my ears perceive the "new" sony sound to have more resolution

Sorry, forgot to answer this one:

Everything is just a little better/warmer/slightly more deetailed with the Asgard 2/Bifrost Uber, but I'll tell you I am pretty happy and blown away with the MDR-1A and may be listing the P7 on eBay today!

I think i am going to go Sony balanced based on the MDR-1A (NWZ-A17, PHA-3 and MDR-1A and a Sony IEM yet to be determined)

That's pretty high praise for the 1A.  Good to hear of a confirmation of what my ears suspect in how good they are.
Please do let us know how your 1A compares between the A17 & Asgard 2/Bifrost Uber though.
I'm thinking along the same line as you about the PHA-3 too for my home use and the occasional extended portability. Rather pricey though.
Based on how well the 1A matched with the A17, I'm looking forward to Sony's next IEM too.  Skipping their current IEM lineup for now.

I am looking for the benefits (imaging, spaciousness, etc....) of the balanced setup mostly.  Also, I have the MDR-1A now but may upgrade to the MDR-Z7 in the near future

That being said I am also curious to see more info about the PHA-1A that is coming soon....

Just for the Sake of Testing but i dont notice a major diffrence in most tracks using the DSEE HX vs not using it... but hell tes this setting literally eats battery faster

as i understand is a magic algorithm that add lost data from lossy compression and tried to reconstruct CD-audio to hi-res, a si understand is oversampling to 192 because you can't add 8 bits out of nothing like f.e gandalf would do
biggrin.gif
technically it oversamples at 16/192 or if 24/192 but the last 8 bits padded at zeroes

I'm sure I've read that dsee hx upsamples to 24bit (88.2/96khz)
Hence why it creates high frequencys 20khz to 40khz.

If it was 176/192khz, wouldn't it likely create up to 96khz high frequencys? (As in over 40khz)

I've been using my a15 for a few weeks now, coming from a x1060/a845/ipod5+7/iTouch3+4 and the battery life is too good.

I'm sure I've only charged it once fully and probably about 3hours total topping up when filling the internal memory and 64gb card.

I've already filled my walkman up, 16+64, 80gb total, really disappointed UK didn't go with the a17/64gb model also/instead !!

Am eventually going to use this as a transport for a pha3

My z7 is on the way.

And have been using ex700/7520 in the mean time :)
