Man reading some of these recent comments makes me appreciate how lucky I got as well, thankfully I didn’t get hit with any extra customs fees or import duties when I ordered mine.

At the current rate, I snagged the 707 for about 750 USD including shipping. I was expecting to pay Another 201 USD in import duty, and handling fees. Luckily escaped that.

I paid $740 from Amazon JP. Order on Monday’s night and got it Sunday. Normally, DHL express only take three to four days but this time five days.

Fedex charged me $128 CAD coming to Toronto. Should be getting here today. Even with a brokerage, it is way cheaper than buying it locally with no high-gain.

Likely that the Fedex bill will come later, and they'll charge you an extra fee for having paid the tax upfront for you.

That's great! I couldn't find a seller that would ship to Canada on Amazon Japan. The 10% Rakuten deal kind of made it a wash in the end. Looking to burning this thing in and comparing it to my AK320.

You just have to wait and check it again. Mine is shipped from Japan to Atlanta, GA.

I don't imagine Fedex works like that. Previously, with DHL, they would just send me a payment link with the import duties etc in it, I pay, and only then the item is released for delivery.

Fedex is the same as far as I know. As far as I am concerned, my business with them is done as soon as they handed the package over.

There was previously a discussion about SD card read/write speeds. I used CPDT (an app) to test this out, these are the results:
Sequential write: 108 MB/s
Sequential read: 85 MB/s

This is on a Samsung pro plus 512GB microSD that claims:
Up to 160MB/s Read and 120MB/s Write speed.

Ugh of course, in my excitement to continue playing with the DAP, I forgot to read what I actually tested. You're right, a test on the SD card actually reveals terrible write/read speeds. Although, I am getting much better read speeds at approx 45 MB/s with a maximum of 89 MB/s.

So, in no way is an expensive SD required here.

I can also share that I have enabled gesture based navigation via adb shell, and it works like a charm.

the case finally came in today, I’m still not a fan of the flap but it will do until they release others like the ones I’ve seen posted here that are under preproduction.
