SONY NW-ZX700

ZX707 uses the same kind of capacitor as WM1xM2 but it has less amount than the M series, and it does not use mechanical relays. Besides that, it seems that other parts like inductor, resistor, solder, ... are the same too.
I am looking carefully at the 707 and it seems that it doesn’t have what M2 do, the dedicated separated power supplies for clock oscillators. Most of other stuff is similar to M2 on balanced side and with miniaturized SE side. I wouldn’t expect 707 to be competing against M2, but the SOC is tempting

Looks like a lot of caps are lacking on the 707 compared to the M2 (back of it).. I wonder what that translates to and if it's noticeable with sensitive IEMs..

Size comparison.. It seems quite large, on par width with the WM1AM2 - looks like it's not a proper ZX507 replacement as key factor was portability and cuteness with balanced output for that one.

Agree, that's why I'm going with a NW-A307 to complement my WM1AM2. Sony sound great via 3.5mm anyway (don't have to have balanced for IEM's).

Why not check out the Ibasso DX240 with amp8 MKII? It compliments my 1AM2 very well. No volume cap to worry about either.

I guess it’s because he wants a portable DAC, not a transportable one which he already has.
Sony is the only one who makes real portable DACs with streaming these days.
DAC or DAP? A portable DAC doesn’t have an amp section.

Don't like volume wheels and want more than 10hr battery life.

Hiby or iBasso would be my other considerations. I really liked the Hiby R5II but sold it on.

I really can't hear a difference 3.5mm vs 4.4mm with my 1AM2 so no problem sticking SE 3.5mm

Yes, I dislike the wheel too but the does sound really good and it is a powerhouse for its size. I think it’s the same size as the ZX707.

I say this because India is not a market for DAPs that cost as much as an iPhone.
On the other hand it seems like it’s cheaper than the US there.
Indian love their music. Indian movies are all about music but ya for past few years audiophile devices were never priced right for Indian market and were sometime like double of US price. Holo May is like $10K in Indian market as of today which is crazy. Thankfully companies like Chord, now Sony, Cayin, Shanling are launching their product at right price as they want to tap burgeoning Indian market. Even EU Hifi manufacturers like Sonnet, Feliks, Rockna etc are now launching products in India at decent price which is not very far from US price.

DX240 is smaller than ZX707. While being more powerful. 870mW vs 230mW.

Sony, is the only one who makes real portable DAPs? HiBy, iBasso begs your pardon. R5 Gen2, R6 Gen 2/3, DX160/170/240 are all compact DAPs, easily pocketable. And not to forget Shanling M3x/Ultra, M6 Ultra and M7 all are compact, smaller than ZX707, also being more powerful.

ZX707: 72.5mm x 132.3mm x 16.9mm
DX240: 70.5mm x 126mm x 18.7mm

Don’t believe in what media portrays India as such. Initial batch of 707 got sold out within 15 hours of launch. And there are many people who have more expensive gears too. Just that these guy aren’t active in social media. There’s a market for DAPs. So does for almost everything. Not as big as few other countries but not as low as you think.

He wasn’t talking about Zx707. He already has the 1AM2.
None of these DAPs are as portable as the A306, A105 or the Zx507. These are for me real portable DAPs.
