Wonder if this ZX 707 is better than my current Fiio M11 plus ESS.
Thinking of grabbing it and sell my M11 plus ESS for use with my Z1R

I don't know that anyone has actually heard the ZX707 yet. With that said, I have both the ZX507 and the FiiO M11 Plus ESS. The Sony for the "Sony sound" and features and the M11 Plus for power, battery life and effective SRC bypass that works with Android apps and streaming services. And, of course, the "Roon Ready" feature.

I suspect I'll end up with a ZX707, but I'll wait for more first-hand info...

The WM1AM2 has long battery life, not expecting great things with the ZX707 having same size battery size as ZX507, yet much bigger screen and only rated 5hr more than the ZX507.

I went ZX507 to WM1AM2 as much for decent battery life.

With Sony in Hi-mode 32/192 its really no loss compared to full SRC bypass for streaming apps to my ears anyway. Of the Chinese brands the best for me recently has been the mid-class Hiby R5 Gen 2 but sold that as don't want/need two DAP's after getting the Sony.

But comparing my hiby r6 2020 vs Wm1A on my z1r , I definitely go for the sony
The hiby while is more powerfull, feels abit harsh especially on the highs and some how it make the z1r sounded “thinner”

I think sony dap + sony iem has better synergy, thats why im thinking to get either the Wm1Am2 or the zx707 for streaming

NW1AM2 = $1400

ZX507 = $830 (or less) + M11 Plus ESS = $650 => Total = $1480 (or less)

I believe the ZX707 will be priced similarly...

Of course I already have my DAPs, but this would be a tough choice...

I managed to import a WM1AM2 from Amazon Japan at a similar price to what I could pre-order a ZX707 off ebay (Amazon Japan won't ship Sony to UK now from Japan).

Wouldn't buy any EU/UK volume capped ones, tried that and always ended up sending back & importing.

Yes, first M11. I had 3 Fiio's and only device I've really liked from them and still use today is a BTR5 over its 2.5mm balanced. Didn't bothered with any more Fiio DAP's after the M11. My DAP route recently has been A107, ZX507, Hiby R5GII, WM1AM2.

Yes. The standard vanilla Fiio M11 is quite bad, thus I chose the DX160 over it last time then I bought the M11 plus ESS few years after and sounded more refine than DX160, neutral with refinement, detailed trebles and extension. Great imaging and soundstage too.

Tried ZX 507 and WM1A (mark 1) but too bad that time I haven't buy my current Z1R so I couldn't taste that Sony pairing. From comparison the ZX507 is more into warm with punchy bass, more towards DX160 characteristic while M11 plus ESS is more neutral but more refine.

My best dream combo maybe snap in Z1R to WM1Am2 but I still hesitate because of the price, since I already stretched up my audio hobby budget for the Z1R themselves. The ZX707 is like an key answer, if they sounded better than my current Fiio M11 plus ESS (they are about the same price) I don't mind to change to ZX-707 even though maybe the Fiio will be better in cpu specs, faster, snappier in operational (with better screen maybe)
So priority will be on sound quality, especially for Z1R and Mest, other factor will be on consideration but sound quality plays big decision factor for me.

Really hope for real world comparison between two later.

Not in EU+UK yet... probably they're working hard on reducing the volume

I'm waiting for mine from JP... ended up adding some curry, some hi chew, matcha and a pikachu pillow, I'll mark it as gift and let's hope FedEx believes me )
