Hi,
does anyone know how to send digital signal out of the ZX300 to use with an external DAC/AMP?
I'm trying to use my ZX300 as just the music library, and send digital signal to an external Topping D50S/A50S, which is connected to my speakers (Klipsch the Sixes).
I am using a USB A(F) to USB A(F) connector and the Sony data cable to connect to my D50S.
But when I start playback on the ZX300, nothing goes out.
And when I enter DAC mode in the ZX300, it says it can't connect to the other device, plus it takes me to a screen with just the volume wheel, which makes me think you can't pair the ZX300 with an external doc at all.
Thanks

You would need this:
High-Resolution Audio USB Adaptor WM-PORT Cable (WMC-NWH10)

i am thinking to buy to ZX300 from Sony, but it is difficult to resource there in Europe, Italy.
Could someone please tell me which SOC is in use for Sony ZX300?

Thank you very much.

You can't install apps and there are no internet capabilities, so the SoC is not that important in this case. The firmware runs smooth, and that sums it up.

There is an undocumented Mediatek dual-core SoC (MT8590).

Mediatek, well, makes me think of what part the CPU plays in the playback process, and it makes me wonder how well this model ZX-300 compares against the MZ-RH1 HiFi Minidisc Player in terms of audio quality.
I tried some entry level audio players (NW-A45 and NW-A55) and the minidisc players sounded better to me.

Hi guys, can you tell me of your Balanced connection have some "give". Mine (which was bought used) as some play on the connector but it doesn't cut out.

By give, do you mean side to side?

I would say with use it does become a bit "too" smooth going in and out however it still hasn't impacted the sound.

Yes. I bought mine used and I’m getting a bit worried. No cuts in sound but the doesn’t look like it was meant to work like that.
The ZX300 (same for ZX500, WM1x) headphone jacks are connected to the main MB by wires. So there can be some play if the Jack mounting is a bit loose, but there are no problems like there would be for designs where the female jack is soldered directly to the MB. The Sony design allows for play and stress on the socket, as the wires will handle any play without affecting the solder connections.

If directly soldered to the MB, like on a lot of DAPs, then any play would be a concern because that may indicate a loose/break in the solder connection, and imminent failure.

In the Sony DAPs, play in the headphone socket is a cosmetic issue, but not an electrical issue. No need to worry about a little play.

Mine is still nice and tight. My balanced plug slides in smoothly till the last stop and then clicks in. It will rotate in the socket but only with effort.

The CPU is responsible for decoding the files but the rest is up to the digital amplifier section. I will say that my stock ZX300 sounds significantly better than the A55 I owned previously.

Unless the side movement is very noticeable, as long as there are not any cut outs, you’re probably ok.
