SONY NW-ZX2

IIRC LDAC goes to about 900kbps, so with some extra Sony coded compression, you could probably do 24/96 which let's face it, is hi res, other than that, yes, heavily compressed I'm sure.

when i stuble upon a DSD iso file i convert it to 24-bit 88.2KHz PCM to avoid compat issues and i dont note any significant sound changes from DSD stream to PCM stream, to my ears they sound eaxacly the same even listening super mega loud

Begs the question why bother with DSD then?

You're asking a great question, lol. What's the point if any of the various hires formats? Honestly I do fine will well recirded mp3s at 320kbps. I would struggle to differentiate with files above that as far as detail. But I'm not gonna say others can't. I tend toward getting the music in the highest quality I can find just in case. I figure if they went to the effort to use the hires format, they took care in mastering in the first place.

Don't want the actual files to be the limiting factor on quality. I leave those duties to my hardware

So, I'm guessing although most people love the audio quality we get from switching to 3.5mm TRRS, how do you guys deal with the plug not working on anything else basically?

Does a 3.5mm TRRS to 3.5mm TRS adapter exist?  Kinda annoying that I can't use my SE846's with my Nexus 6P, iPad Pro and Laptop on the go when I want to...

Whilst at CanJam i listened to quite a few Noble IE with my ZX2.
I was quite surprised at how good the sound was. I had only just left one stand listening to a decent over ear rig.
I was very impressed with the Savant and my favourite was the Django.
Very comfortable and light to wear.
With Django, thats the best sound from my ZX2 I have heard. Excellent clarity, female vocals sounded wonderful and acoustic guitar very crisp and clear.
ZX2 drove them exceedingly well. I think the Nobles are fantastic. I did not dare try the Katana

In a noisy environment they also blocked out the background noise very well.
I can certainly recommend an audition.

Any ZX2 > Noble users out there?

"Super mega loud" isn't really the point, if there is any difference (debatable until the end of time), that is mostly between the quietest and loudest parts of the tracks...

Super Mega Loud (tm!) should NOT be what you do for hi-res / DSD.

Usually listen to vol. 08-11 of 30 rarely 12-16 of 30 on my ZX100 i used the mega loud to try to note a difference f.e more details, more instruments heard and couldn't note a diff between 88Khz and DSDx128

I'm pretty sure a e.5 TRRS to 3.5 TRS adapter us available. It is not possible to do it the other way around and you may risk damage to the circuitry.

Tho not being able to connect your se846 to your Nexus 6P may be a good thing, lol. I've got the same setup there.

anybody?

Why not just get a Chomecast Audio its only $35 and you can push music from your laptop, ZX2 or phone. Once you cast the music or a playlist you can listen to your headphone on the ZX2 and the music will keep playing on the Chomecast
Most store have it in stock, Walmart, Best Buy

Hey Now,

I use the ZX2 with a pair of Noble 5S universals with comfort comply tips. Sounds terrific. I listen to 4-5 hours a day at work with this combo. I am going to wire up a TRRS jack soon. I like it very much.

zx-2 via K10's here...   after good burn-in on both (200ish hours), very very satisfied.  I nearly dumped the k10's in the first 20 hours, but the combination of ZX2 burn in, and i believe some minor change in the K10s over that time, and i'm quite happy.  Double Helix SP-8 on the way.
