always and from long time audiophile equipments are not for all people ... who appreciate the slight changes in the quality of sound , build quality ... nowadays their are the same ignorant people who don't stop making stupid assumptions and conclusions about things they even don't understand what they are talking about ! ... my advice is just ignore them and listen by yourself if you like what you are hearing .. buy it

  Hi,

I received my replacement ZX2 today and all is good- it wasn't opened/used and I haven't noticed the buzzing that I experienced with the other unit.

One thing that I don't like is the case that comes with it ( all the accessories are a little anemic!)

I have been looking online for a replacement and have found this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OFFICIAL-Sony-Walkman-Leather-case-CKL-NWZX2-for-NW-ZX2-Japan-Free-Shipping-/281663975482?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item41947b303a

Does anyone have this case or have any recommendations for a decent replacement?

Also, does it matter what type of SD card you use? I have heard Sony have a specialist SD card for audio equipment. Is this necessary or superfluous?

This is the case I have, I think it's better than using the Sony's flip, and a lot cheaper, I just hate how Sony uses cheap leather for the case and charging so much for it, other than that it's a great flip case and very well built.

I also have a glass screen protector, good screen protection.

This is the memory card you are talking about, it's made specifically for the ZX2, It says it suppose to reduce distortion and background noise, but probably won't know the differences, so really a normal class 10, UHS 1 card will work.

Thanks for the replies.  I tried tagging in Media Monkey and someone on another forum advised using JRiver Media Center, so I downloaded a trial version and tried that; still no luck.  So I just converted to FLAC and everything is perfect.  Just wanted to try WAV, but I will be sticking to FLAC from here on out.

Why not use AIFF? It has no issues with tags and is also an uncompressed format. I've been downloading AIFF from HDTracks without any issues.

Most of my library is AIFF and they work and sound great, though the only drawback for some might be the large file size, if you are pushing your storage limits.  I believe the AIFF format has the largest file size.

When I purchase music, it's usually Flac from Mora.jp.

I really did not want to install one either, but the ZX2 screen smudges more that any smartphone screen I've use.  It is about as bad as the iPad Air 2.  Anyway I highly recommend the tempered glass.  Yeah, it is slightly thicker than the flimsy plastic screen protectors, but I have never felt or seen a screen protector perform like this one.

About the Hi-Res sticker, I asked the same question to audioxxx, who has installed the same protector and advised to remove it.  So I did remove it since it is raised from the glass I suppose it would create quite an air bubble.  When I removed the Hi-Res sticker I accidently creased it, but I wasn't too worried about it; I had been contemplating removing it anyway (I'm not a big fan of gold).  I actually think the ZX2 looks better without it.  If you definitely want the Hi-Res Sticker then you might want to check out 'post #3338' by kms108.

Here is a pic of my ZX2 with the tempered glass installed:

Hey Now Dr. Gonzo,

My Google-fu is not very good it seems trying to find the tempered glass screen protector. Any chance you could share a link to where you bought yours? Thanks.

So, are there any 4th of July sales (in the US) that anyone has noticed?

I'm see $1014 for the Japanese version and $1199 for the US.  I'm looking to pull the trigger but still can't choose.  It's the price difference vs the ease of warranty service.
A good 10-15% sale would easily have me pulling the trigger on the US version.

There are a few on ebay, you don't need to bother about the brand, they are all made in china from the same manufacturer.

Benks
Dayjoy
Garmas

they are the same.

Interesting.. I read (I do not remember on which player the testing was done) that few members were saying that Japan Toshiba cards sound best.. Weird but that was happening...

What is the price for 64 GB card?

I think I paid around 13600 yen for it.
