SONY NW-ZX2

Agreed re sound quality, I was skeptical at first, especially when the player had a bad day, and sounded boomy, but guess that was part of it bedding in...

Sure I'll be scorned for this comment, however, I've not thought about my Hugo since getting this, the great synergy with the 1p2 and the very acceptable SQ out of the headphone out mean pocket space is much improved with very little compromise

I have the Hugo and find it to be quite an exceptional device.  However, I wanted the zx2 for my train commute etc.  I also want to use the zx2 as a transport for the Hugo as a bedside or office rig.  Should work out well if I can manage the transfer quarks!

As much as I really like this player, there is one thing I've found that REALLY annoys me...

Why do you EVERY time you add a track to a playlist get the warning about SD card removal...

Fine, stops people blaming Sony when they lose their playlist, but surely that can be defeated, no?

I'm just going to leave this here while I rethink about getting a ZX2

For roughly the same price as the ZX2...wow!  Great news indeed.  Sadly I've to stick with the 128GB.  I have to admit wanting to pull a trigger on the 200GB Sandisk though.

Memory shortage was the only reason I sold mine.  Picking up a Calyx M in about 5 hours.  Picking up a 200GB MicroSD and a 256GB SDXC on Monday.

My ZX2 has arrived. Copying the music files and loading the battery in progress.

My first impression with a single word: WOW!

At the first start I loved the sound setting DSEE HX. But after only 2 hours the sound of the ZX2 increased so far that I now think the best quality comes out of this DAP without any sound settings/improvements.

yup, that seems to be the way, I was the same, started with enhancements, and turned them off...

It'll be an interesting voyage of discovery as the player finds its feet :)

Guys,

I'm looking at the ZX2 as my frist dap, other than the Cowon P1, what are some other daps in this price and quality range?

The ZX2 apparently bests the AK240 in terms of sound quality, the AK240 costs twice as much as the ZX2 and is/was considered to be the best DAP that money can buy. This should answer the quality and price question...

I'm also amazed at the battery life of the ZX2, 33hrs on flac, dang.
