SONY NW-ZX100

Look at, say, the A series vs. any ZX.

The Phileweb report indicates this is the follow up to the ZX1, so it looks like Sony is seeing this as a co-flagship of sorts to the ZX2 but more like a prince versus a king :) The A series is not flagship audio quality. The ZX line (including the ZX100) has micro SD and 128GB. The Ax7 series has 64GB. The ZX100 ditches Android for the Sony OS in the normal Walkman - which would also explain the lack of touchscreen, controls, and arguably better battery life. There is no WiFi in the ZX100. It supports LDAC, so there is bluetooth. ZX100 supports DSD 5.6, which is one of the reasons I want to upgrade my ZX1. The headphone jack is different than the ZX2 since it supports the digital noise cancelling stuff like the other Sony Walkman devices, so if you like what the ZX2 has, this will probably be a downgrade to a degree.

Honestly looks like Sony took the best of both worlds here - the old Walkman OS and controls + the forward thinking guts of the ZX1 and 2.

do you also happen to know if it houses the OSCAPs aswell?

in the sony page seems like so (in the pics)

Pretty much that's how it goes - so $699.

If $699 is retail price, then just for another $300 one could get ZX2.
Also if this walkman is placed between A17 and ZX1, it should be priced somewhere like $599.
To me, it looks no more than a $499 player.
iPod touch 128GB is $399. So add in the noise cancelling, micro sd slot and better sound And I can add another $100 maximum⏳

For the ZX100 price you might as well top up a little bit more to get the ZX2...
Have to say, having owned the ZX2 and A15, I'd stick with the A15 and save all that money.

So this is just a "ES" version of the A27 walkman.... ;p

I would of rather they just have a 128GB "A28" :)

I bought a A15 in January for £99/$155-ish and unless I can get this for a good price (£200/$310) I'll wait untill the third gen iteration of the hi res A series Walkmans (with a 256GB option I'm sure)

Maybe the ZX100 will give the ZX2 a run for its money in terms of sound quality.

What I like about the ZX100 is that its alot more portable than the ZX2.

If there is not much difference in sound quality between them, I'd much prefer to get the ZX100 for its form factor.
