SONY NW-ZX100

I use my zx100 with my noble audio savant and sony xba-a3 IEMs. Them both very good headphones, but i think savant lacking some bass. No problems playing any type of song with a3, but Savant just cries for racking up the bass eq. 100% of songs I listen I play them in flat eq. Although savants haven't sit in my ear for no longer than 6 hours so might be that i need them to burn in? Don't know, but zx100 + xba-a3 all i want.

I like my combo of XBA-A3 +ZX100 very smooth sounding

Have you tried the ZX100 with other iems?

How is the noise floor?

Treid wit MDR-1R Cans, not a matc at all very bright and made my ears ringy after use

and briefly wth XBA-H3, it didn't fix the bloated mid-bass of the H3...Noise foor i don't note any hissing, unfortunateli most of my IEMs and cans ave died so i don't have a collection.

previous walkmen before my A17 were quite hissy, my E507, A818, X1060 all hissed like angry cobras even with sony iems and cans

Yeah, this is what is keeping me back.
I am very sensitive to hiss and 'not-black' backgrounds.
If have been told that Sony DAPs in general often have that problem with sound floor (sensitive iems) and low output (hard to drive full sized).

And I am looking for a versatile setup and at the price I don't think the ZX100 would seal the deal. It probably wouldn't be a problem now (with my current line-up) but it might become one in the near future.

Was going to pull a trigger earlier but ultimately I did prefe the zx2 over the zx100 on a short listening session. Hope the price will drop again.

  Good to know. Thanks.

Considering the rather expensive price, I am currently also looking at some other options.
Perhaps a secondhand iPod Classic 7G + Cypher Labs 720 DAC.

WOW.
But this makes the decision even more difficult...
Still kind of torn due to the ZX100's low power, which would possibly need another amp.

I have a 512GB iPod Video (64MB buffer) with extended battery for sale.

Any price above 370£ for zx100 would be ripoff. The only thing I don't understand is how come we haven't got any leather cases in europe. Everything I can find for it would cost me up to 90£. One of the reasons is import tax and few other fees... Just saw silicone one for 5er.
