accessoryjack.com has the Honkong version for a lower price at leats i have seen it as low as 900 USD, currently at 1069

maybe you need to burn the unit more (zx100) and perhaps you forgot to disable sound enhancements?

I gave it over 100 hours of burn-in before judging it. As for the sound enhancements, I didn't think they could be disabled on the ZX100.

They can be disabled, on now playing press the Option quick one press and set all to off, none

or go to home screen --> settings --> Music settings and again set all to off / none

Thanks for the pics, I appreciate you taking the time to do that. Fortunately I had already disabled the enhancements in the way you describe. I thought maybe you were referring to another way, similar to the ZX2, in which a complete override is done.

for thi wlakman once Off and none, they remain off. This model uses a embedded unix-based system propetary of sony unlike zx1 and zx2 which use nadroid

The microdetails on this player is still slightly lacking compared to the top dogs from Ibasso, AK, Hifiman and Calyx.
But the price and battery life of the player make up for it.

That's why the zx2 is there. This player is supposed to compete with the AK Jr and perhaps the 100ii among other offerings in this price range.

Exactly, this is the ZX2 little brother, so it can not get up there :). Zx2 quality is being compared to ak240 which cost twice as much and even better than the ak240 (subjective)
