SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2

Maybe Sony should just ditch the rules then. I bought my AK DAP from Richersounds and it was wayyy louder than the zx507. The zx507 was as good as a paperweight to be honest with that output
I'm guessing Sony are so big and represented with own operations in all EU countries so they can't be seen breaking the laws but I don't know why they play by the rules

Does anyone know if these devices will do streaming like the A105 and ZX507, i.e. forced upsampling to 192 kHz rather than bitperfect?

Yes, they have the same thing for third-party apps.

Isen’t that a given on Android (have never had an Android device except for ZX2) ?

Bummer. I have become spoiled with actual bitperfect (and fully decoded MQA) streaming with my non-Sony DAPs... Is that a limitation of the S-Master hardware?

No, most recent DAPs bypass SRC altogether unless the specific app forces it.

I think it is a given on any Android device. My zx-507 streams bit perfect from Tidal using UAPP. I am guessing it will be the same thing with the MK2 devices.

Yes, UAPP does actually work, but no MQA rendering or full decoding, only the first unfold within UAPP. But AFAIK, none of the streaming apps are bitperfect on Sony Android.

Yes with dap’s native player app and uapp but surely the generic Tidal, Spotify and so on third party streaming apps don’t ?

From watching the Sony slide that was shown in this chinese youtube video, I'm guessing it's upscaling or at least able to get up to 192khz for streaming music apps? Doesn't seem like it'll be native sound for streaming. You guys know this better than I do haha.

I paid an extra fee for the MQA within UAPP. Music streaming from Tidal in UAPP MQA is actually not bit perfect?

It's bitpefect to the MQA first unfold. UAPP doesn't not render or fully decode MQA on Sony Android DAPS. Only the Sony Walkman Player can do that.

Tidal, Qobuz, Apple Music and other apps bypass SRC and play bitperfect on most recent DAPs (Fiio, Hiby, iBasso, Shanling, etc). Spotify isn't lossless so it doesn't. Amazon Music is questionable as it seems to upsample to 192 kHz always on high-resolution capable DAPs..

The Sony A100 and ZX500 series can be set to 48 or 192 kHz (only one of these at a time) and everything 3rd party is resampled to this rate. Only the built in Walkman player (and UAPP) can use other sample rates.
