This is a pretty weak processor for running Android, but OK...

It runs android just fine.
If Sony has not made it clear to everyone then I'll say it: This is a Walkman and not a gaming device or business multitasking device. The app responsiveness was fluid. There were no delays between moving in and out of apps. As it was shown in the video, DSD remastering and high resolution audio is only available within the Sony apps. The device will automatically switch between balanced and unbalanced depending on which input is being used, but only the Official Sony apps can take advantage of DSEE or the DSD remastering engine to S-Master HX amplification

I know. Still doesn't change the fact that it might be slow with streaming service applications.

For perspective, it's quite a bit faster than the Shanling M8 based on AnTutu scores, but slower than the M9 and latest HiBy DAPs.

It's basically the same as the ZX500/A100 one, and the experience on those players are not close to ideal at least.

Other manufacturers are using SD660, and it's much better than the NXP SoC.

Very intrested in difference of sound of new 1A and 1Z, if components mosly the same. (its only Copper shell and Kimber wires?)

It was a nice feature, such a DAP could reach 40 hours with hires files 24/96 (as it concerns most of the streaming files available through Qobuz/Amazon HD), but it seems this available time drops very fast with other formats, so with DSD, it's almost 3 times less, with 13 to15 hours... and those measurements are done with Sony's players ... so what happens with streaming provider's players ?
Then, though I am not sure if it will be really necessary (I don't know what Sony will provide as upnp access management in their music player), if we use Neutron Player, as it's the only player that can create and store music library from a personal upnp server for an easy LAN and WAN access, will Sony's DSP features be recognized trough Neutron hardware parameters (Windows 11 Samsung DSP are available with Neutron) ?
What about developer's access for Wavelet and Poweramp system level EQ ? Though, as with WM1A Sony's DSP is available even through LDAC BT receiver, I imagine probably it should be applied to QOBUZ and Aazon HD too.

I believe SD660 would consume more battery, btw using Walkman app with 40hrs playback time is really impressive.

Official Sony store in Russia sells old WM1Z right now for about $2250 USD (with 2 year extended warranty), and I'm sure new WM1A will cost about $2000 USD at the start.
Interesting choice if you are getting in to Sony DAPs....

Sooo waiting for comparisons

The MDR-Z1R was designed to be used with the TA-ZH1ES. NW-WM1A/Z was always supposed to be used with IEM.
Here on the MDR-Z1R product page you can see that they are rated for up to 2,500 mW input.
The next lower line, MDR-Z7M2 is rated for up to 2000mW, the MDR-1AM2 is rated for 1500 mW.

The IEMS are rated for about 100mW which is smack in the middle of the 60mW output unbalanced and 250mW balanced.
The TA-ZH1ES is rated for 1200mW balanced and 300mW unbalanced. The DMP-Z1 is actually the single best component for driving the MDR-Z1R with 1500mW output balanced and 570 mW balanced. Really impressive what sony put together with the DMP-Z1
So it’s confirmed officially by Sony that their headphones and IEMs scale up with more power. That is good to know.
