I will post some pics of the inside of the new case so anyone who knows the last version can see if any upgrades were made.

I have been lucky twice. First, in May, before NW-WM1AM2 was released in the US, I checked Amazon Japan and there was stock. It looks like there was only one piece in stock, as after my order it went out of stock. Next month, I checked Sony's US website and there was an option to preorder one. Once I did, it went out of stock. I got the US unit within three days from preordering.where are people buying these in the US? what is wrong with Sony US?!

See how it compares to the EU crippled 1ZM2 I tried a few month back.
Only 3 days from Amazon Japan to

Here are some photos of the Sony case, looks pretty well made with a soft sort of microfibre back and small foam pieces to help protect the player. How does this compare to the previous one? Sorry again about the dust, the wife is away for work. Getting sick of pizza…

None of the volume limiting rubbish
Initial impressions plenty loud enough now without the silly EU cap (even without using High Gain) for me, and its smooth/rich Sony like the Z but too soon to form a judgement even If I can really tell any difference sonically. Apart from the Gold Bling the Z its no way worth 2.5 times the cost of the A.
Build quality just as top notch as the Z version. Great with Amazon HD music as they both send out at 24/192 when you set the Sony to Hi-def in the options.
The weight is much better than the 500g for the Z.
The OS is initially sluggish but may settle once Android has finished its background stuff.
Case and glass screen protector spot on too.
Will try with my SE846's and K10U's later to say exactly the volume level compared to the UK/EU 1ZM2 I had before returning.
Initially listening with my FD7's

So, to follow up on my EU volume capping journey earlier in this thread and identical to what I found with the A107 & ZX507 EU/UK vs Japanese import.
With my Shure SE846's that are easy to drive I had to have at 85-100/120 volume setting even on 4.4mm balanced while the Hiby I'm at 28/100 on low gain and that has two higher gain settings.
Now with the Japanese import 1AM2 the same track is at 65/120 on low gain and with its high gain (missing in EU versions) its 45/120 !!!
One hell of a difference to the stupid EU capping. Bonus, over £250 cheaper than UK too even with import fees!

I bought the FD7 used for £200 not expecting much, but due to sound, size and comfort I'm using them more than my other two more expensive sets. Easy to drive, sound musical with great base.
I'm using with Hiby R5II, Khadas Tea/iPhone13 mini and now the Sony and sound great with all.
With the Japanese 1AM2 I'm on about 75/120 low gain 4.4mm with them. (DSD 80-85)
