Status already changed to shipping in 1-2 months.
Patience is a virtue :) I've no hurry to sample M2 as the M1 models are still very decent DAP's.

I wonder how Wm1zm2 stands vs Fiio M17, with its real coax output 4 different line outs, screen, speed ,all apps and many more..
I haven’t been an admirer of chifi but I have m17 for couple days now and couldn’t be happier.
Ps I write this only to get info if someone can compare
Pps I still would most likely buy the Wm1zm2

if WM1ZM2 is connected to the TAZ rear or side, will all the DSP effects (DSEE ULTIMATE, DC PHASE LIN, Vinyl Proc) carry along with it when using USB? or are we only transmitting digital information and ignoring DSPs.

It transmits only the digital signal over USB. Same with the previous gen. Should you wish to do any DSPing, do it on the TAZ.

WM1ZM2 is more like an iteration of the previous WM1Z. Closer to the DMP-Z1 but still has than warm, natural, relaxing listen.

I would think of the M17 as a upsized version of the M11 Plus ESS. Still maintaining that very neutral and detailed sound but doubling the power and usability with the ports that u mentioned. In all, they are two very different products.

There is no shortage of opinions on this thread but it is as you said, the WM1ZM2 is a unique device yet the M17 is more capable holistically speaking.

Thank You, yes it is. I was primarily aiming at P6 Pro, sonically it was Superior to all daps I’ve heard, also tried the newest M9 Shanling - didn’t hear anything special. With m17 it’s different😊 Hope to try Wm1zm2 some day soon

Many flavours of music you listed here. 1 of each kind: AKM, ESS, R2R and S-Master HX. I would say the L&P P6 Pro and WM1ZM2 are the most unique, with the Shanling M9's main selling point being its usage of the now EOL AK499EQ and the M17 being the big chungus of music players.

Nonetheless, how you enjoy your music is up to you and I am sure the WM1ZM2 will not disappoint you.

BTW if your username is anything to go by, may I recommend you try some Sony IEMs or headphones for your Japanese music cravings?
