SONY NW-WM1Z M2 / WM1A M2

Does anyone know how much less power the capped version of the nw1zm2 has? Is it half the power (so 60mw unbalanced and 250mw balanced)?
Shouldn’t it be the same power output but with volume limiter ? Like you can’t go beyond certain loudness ? That is firmware related stuff

I agreed about Sony DSEE HX. I think This is what Chord has been heading too! But they are only desktop stuff, and scaling as high as 768Khz. They don’t have both Native DSD and upscaling together like Sony stuff though
People have to pay Chord $5000 to enjoy the 768Khz upsampling function of the Mscaler.

Sony gives you DSD Remastering to 11.2Mhz and AI controlled upsampling to 32bit 192KHz. All complementary inside the cost price of the Walkman

Is that a good deal or what?

For sure that it is :)! A lot of people love Chord, but to me they are inferior to Sony. The TA-ZH1ES does upscaling to 384Khz and that is mightily impressive already, Even though they are building around FPGA too, but Chord is stuck after the FPGA where as Sony is carrying onward with digital amplifications.

As far as people enjoying Chord Upscaling features, I have no clues why they don’t even look at Sony products.

Yeah, may be using Neutron player in AndroidOS, other players can also upscale stuff upto 384Khz or 768Khz, but once again, Sony is the pioneer of DSP. So, beside the rating number as an objective to compare, they are very different.

If DSP is a thing then the new Walkman advances over the last Gen was about DSD remastering. It took Sony several years to develop this for the portable S-Master chip, which they were not able to squeeze into the DMP Z1

It's not really clear but with the WM1AM2 European manual, it seems that it's not sure the volume level will be definitely capped for high gain...
It seems to be more like a message that will appear to inform that to go over a certain level it can damage the ears, and you can press OK
to be allowed to continue to push the volume level to the max available (2 x 250mw class D ?).
This message will appear again automatically every 20 hours of using a high gain power.

So maybe it will be better than other android Sony's DAP.

1.1mw in both se and balanced, at least was the power of the first capped 1z and 1a generation
That’s insane, even the A105 U.K. version is rated at 35mw @ 16 ohm.

I really fancy a 507 or maybe at a push the 1AM2 but not a chance I’m buying a U.K. / EU model.
