I have been comparing both and just wanted to confirm what I believe I hear.

I think the Monoprice 8320 sounds better by a substantial margin. 8320 is capable of producing music which sounds more "live" and personal.

My first thoughts were that the Sony sounded like all the other IEM's out there, while the 8320 has more tonal separation and custom quality sound.  The Sony sounds muffled by comparison.

Is it just me or does the 8320 actually sound better?

Couldnt get a good fit with the monoprice no matter what I tried so even though the sound might have been great, the poor design stopped me from being able to tell. So at least design wise they were terrible for me.

Based on my listening, the MH1C is better than the 8320 by a decent margin.

Add in the superior ergonomics (stupid J cord aside) and it's no contest, really.

I have Monoprice 8320 and a recabled Sony MH1C and i can say that MH1c beats MP8320 hands down. They are not in the same league for my ears. Whenever i want to listen to my other IEMs( RE272, GR01, X10) , I always end up reaching for my MH1C. the only IEMs that can share listening time with MH1C are the Vsonic GR07 trio( V1, MKII, Bass Edition).

I decided I hate the cable on the Sony so I've been reaching for my 8320 and tx-400 combo.

How did you recable your MH1C? Can you upload some pictures how they look like? :D

Between those 2 I'd have to say the MH1C is the better IEM the whole way around with build quality and sound quality.  They have a cleaner sound with better bass impact and a better soundstage and imaging and the one thing the Mono's do better is they have a quicker bass response as the MH1C has a slower bass with longer decay times.
