After picked up my R10, I could see that unfortunately the silver part had lost some color, thus showing the signs of time,so I decided to make a complete restoration starting from the black magnesium ring, until the silver part of the cap; The black color was not difficult to find, unlike the silver part... If it can be useful I leave you the code of its authentic color:
“Renault KNM Gris Basalte Met. STANDARD”
Now it is really back as New, and the color I can assure you is that
(The first photo was made with flash, secondo and third photos after restoration, while the last photo was taken before doing the painting work, to compare the original color with the paint)

@jamato8 and @number1sixerfan do you guys know which driver number are yours? Mine is #3.

Btw, I’ve heard the R10 with several amps a couple of weeks ago at a local audio show and found them to sound amazing out of the Luxman p750u mk2 (which was the best of the bunch IMO, including Chord Dave)
Ended up getting the Luxman and after listening more carefully at home, I can attest again that the R10s sound stunning out of it.
L3000 also sounds very enjoyable (although I haven't heard these with any other amp).

Thank you guys for the recommendations!

What could these spots be on the Driver in your opinion?
Could it be the infamous biocellulose mold?

Ok,chain ready and seriously this is one the most lovely sound I ever heard;but many people talk and said about a wonderful sinergy with the leben;well, yes but not for all genres;for metal like Metallica or megadeth the bass is too way soft;I still have so decide if keep this setup or change to a dmp z1
It create a giant and deep soundstage,but-or I made something wrong on a turntable setup,or valves for metal are too soft-
Chain composed by Rega rp10,Hana ML cartridge;Italian prephono audio aaAnalogue;Leben cs300xs and R10

Maybe the r10 is just not the ideal headphone for metal..
But going for a dmp-z1 is never wrong if you have the cash 😄
Congrats on the nice setup @kiling92
My last r10 sounded wonderful with metal and rock;in fact I carry my turntable to a hifi shop yesterday afternoon and they calibrated in the right way the turntable;the antiskating wasn’t set well before, creating a soft (a bit too) bass frequencies and some distortion.
Now it’s OK
P.s thank you @costas23 ,when you want I wait you here :)

Yup, I want to do the same direct wiring mod cable upgrade but it is way too risky. Did it once on my other pair of R10 and will not do it again. It was nerve wrecking. Plus the solder pad could easily gave out on older headphones as well. Had solder pads gave out on my HD700 and E484 before and that was disastrous. Recently bought the Sony MDR-MV1 and did a direct wiring mod cable upgrade and bypassing the 3.5 TRS socket. The improvements are totally worth it and a steal at a giving price point. The MDR-V1 is so light, comfortable, and now sound very exceptional to boot.
can a mod like this be done with detachable 3.5mm? I'm wondering because if that's the case, a kimber cable can be used with the mv1 :)

Thought about buying one maybe a decade ago for around $5k but didn’t go for that. If you buy one now, you may need to get one with refresh capacitors.
