I contacted the seller on a lark as that price was good for the due diligence and here are some contradictions:
The seller said his name was Davish and that he is from California. I asked if he has any online feedback and he linked me to this user:

This user is, by their own admission, named Kristen and from New England.

I asked the guy for his address. He gave me an address that doesn't exist. It is not residential, nearest address looks like its next to a run-down cannery in East LA
Lastly, when I offered to have a friend pick up the headphones cash in hand as I know some people in LA, he went on the defensive and accused my tone and me of "doubting him." At this point he also rushed me with the age old "send me money now or I'll give to the next person in line."
Here is why he is better than your average scammer:
1) He was willing to talk on the phone
2) He gave an address
3) His email account started with the name 'chudalicious', giving credence to the notion that he was this HF user. Of course, when I sent this Chudalicious a HF PM, radio silence...
4) His AA username is the same as that of someone with a lot of feedback through Ebay... in the UK.
5) His images didn't show up immediately on tineye or the first google image search I tried, it took a second search to find it.
All in all, more sophisticated than your average R10 scammer, which means they are getting
better and one should be even more careful. I would not personally buy a set again unless it was either from a forum member in great standing, or someone who allows local pickup (you'd be surprised how many HF'ers over the world would be willing to do local pickup to help you not get scammed.)
