You're vey welcome, it was a pleasure doing so.
I just realised MDR7550 has a gold plated screw thread for its cable like the EX800ST too.

Well, if the MDR-7550 are MADE IN JAPAN then probably they will be exactly same as the 800ST... but if they are made somewhere else there might be some slight differences i think.

Ya agreed, just like how Mdr e888 Jap, Thai & Phil versions differ in sound, though specs are similar, that is somehow inevitable.

I had a look on the Sony site, it lists the ex1000 on preorder shipping on 2/15 for $500. There's no mention of the 7550 or 800st or anything in the $350 price range. With such a limited amount of reviews and impressions on the ex1000s, I'm not sure I can justify 500 bones on iems that may not be fantastic. Ex1000 vs 1964Q vs westone 4 vs sm3..... Hmmmmmm

I just placed an order for the EX1000 from Sony at $499+tax.  I figured I could return it if I don't like it within 30 days so not much loss.  Look for my unboxing and impressions in the near future.  The headphones are scheduled to ship tomorrow.

I'm guessing the EX800ST/7550 doesn't use the same high quality components of the 1000s? Speaking of the magnesium alloy housing and polymer film diaphragm.

I think so but they also are made with a different purpose.
The magnesium alloy and polymer film give of course a different sound but i doesnt mean a better soundl.... it depend what you are looking for.
I have the 800st and FOR ME they are the best earphones i ever had. i wanted a sound close to the one i have in my recording studio for when iam on the go, and to my surprise i finally found that... i didnt try the 1000 so i cant comment but my feeling is that they are not Better, but different... probably a bit more bass, and high frequency... the 800st are very well balanced like studio monitors...

That's too bad I'm sure there would've been away to implement those materials and still manage a neutral sound with fine tuning. It will give a better timbre but I'm sure the 800s will still do them well.
