Sony MDR-EX800st and MDR-7550 vs. MDR-EX1000?

I own both the EX1000 and EX800ST, and I have to agree the 1000 is technically better in every way. Is it the driver or the slightly hotter treble region? I don't know, but the imaging and detail is a step up from the 800.

I also own the Andromedas. If I could get an IEM with the EX1000's bass and mid range, coupled with the Andromeda's treble for a reasonable price. I would be in heaven.

The EX1000/800 do need power to truly shine, where as the Andromedas don't.

EDIT: +1 on the Comply tips. I use the round Tsx-200 with wax guard
Hi. And what about soundstage? Wich is wider andromeda, ex1000 or ex800? How is The difference of size in soundstage betwen three models?

They’re about equal (EX1000 and Andromeda). EX800 is smaller but has smoother vocals, resulting into lesser imaging but easier less fatiguing listen.

Either three of these are amazing value.

I just bought a pair of EX800ST from eBay, hopefully they will be here in a week or so. Currently my favorite IEM is the Vsonic GR07BE even though I have pricier IEMs (AKG K3003i, Ety ER4SR, Shure SE535, etc.). Also bought a pair of FLC8s, which should be here around the same time. I have high expectations for the EX800ST. Will report back once I have them

The EX800ST is a beast of an IEM. Do not be afraid to hit that 16mm DD with EQ. They respond beautiful. Do they need EQ? Not really. I love the stock sound signature and although I tried the tape mod, I removed it. These things need no help with bass. The soundstage on the 800s are the best among all the iems I've tried. They sound like you are listening to speakers in a room, not in your ears.

Good luck!

I am very interested in the 7550/8000. prices on eBay are just over $200 new while the ex1000 is over $400 used. the only iem I own is the moondrop blessing. I love it, but now looking for something different. I was thinking isine but the cipher cable is a major drawback for me

Do i understand it right that the EX1000 are out of production and the EX800ST are new still available?
This would mean in terms of spare parts, its a higher risk to buy used EX1000, correct?

what spare parts would be available anyway? buying new you'd get a warranty but not if you buy the ex800 outside of Asia I think

Spare parts could be either the shell or one complete phone when one side is broken for example.
Happend to my UE Superfi 5 Pro, but as they were already out of production, then no spare parts were available.

Have you received the EX-800ST? Sorry, I'm curious how it sounds compared to the GR07BE.

Yes, I have, last week, it took more than expected even though I paid for EMS, order from Amazon is best I think.

They sound really good and close to the GR07 BE, the Vsonic has more bass and has less layering, but they sound pretty close. The Sony are a bit more thin, but have better detail (but not by much).

If you like bass, get the Vsonic, if you like classical or acoustic get the Sony. Also the isolation on the Sony are not good and the Vsonic are more comfortable also.

I will wait the 11.11 deals and go for the GR09 plastic. It's maybe a better deal than the EX-800ST for me cause will use it in outdoor too and the SQ is probably very close. Thank you!
