I'm waiting on this balanced cable
I use it since receipt and never tried 3.5mm stock again.
I'm waiting on this balanced cable
IIRC the DFR doesn't have balanced output at the 3.5mm so the cable that Hungry Panda is getting wouldn't work for you unless you have a balanced source/amp with 3.5mm jack. If you read a few pages back someone did mention a cheap cable from Amazon that was 3.5mm SE on both ends which is what you need to work with the DFR.thank you Hungry Panda, Would that be okay for the Dragonfly Red? I think I'll take a punt on them too. Kind regards
Agree with you about the connection type and not the cable making most, if not all the difference.Own 3.5mm cable is decent. I suspect the magic is in balanced connection rather than in quality of the cable.

Looks like a nice cable and it should work but just remember that it has a 90 Deg 3.5mm TRS jack on the amp end.Would this one suffice? I've checked the plugs they seem to be identical to the stock cable?

While I have my MDR-1A, I haven't heard or tried the other 2 so can't comment about sound or comfort on them. If comfort is important then I'd suggest the HD700 with the Xonar sound card. its what I still use at times. If you read back a few pages you can use alternative ear pads on the MDR-1A to make them more comfortable but for me they just get a bit too hot after an hour from me here in Hawaii. My MDR-1A is modded with dynamat and its quite nice on my Galaxy S5 and S8 but sound a touch better on Fiio X3 or my desktop system of Bimby+Ember.
Who seems more successful? The test will be at home, without going outside.
I will test with a P20pro, a Moto G4 and an Asus Xonar Sound Card that allows to change the output ohms.
They are very different, I know. And I need it to be very comfortable.
I have big, delicate ears and I wear glasses.
I hope to try one hour at least each one, with flac mainly.
I would have liked to have included the MDR-1AM2 but it has not been possible.
