DMP-Z1 tooIt probably is but at ~$8000 it's purely academic for me. Taz is sooooo good for 1/4 the price, and even less used.

Two questions for help regarding my Z1R:
1. I am looking for a new DAP (form factor has to be relatively small) to replace my aging DX160, and currently I am focusing on DX170 or RS2 (I am not streaming). However, WM1A keeps poping up as the best synergy suggestion. My question is: with the current waves of newer technology DAP, is WM1A still the best match for Z1R. Right now a second-hand WM1A is very attractive price-wise, but the form factor is on the borderline too large and heavy for my use.
2. I love my Z1R, however, since most people consider Z1R has a week mids, I am looking for a best complement IEM, not all rounder, but a specialist in great mids. I found some potential candidates such as oriolus isabellae (it gets not so great review by crinacle), any good suggestions?
Thanks for the reply, it seems tha RS2's output power is lacking at least for 3.5mm (2Vrms, 125 mW), barely for 4.4mm (3.2Vrms, 225 mW rated, 320 mW max)Power is a consideration, I would say 250mw would be the minimum for the Z1R. My ZX300 is definitely a bit lacking but my PHA-2A is fine. I have a WM1AM2 coming next week and it's suppose to be OK for the Z1R, Not getting a WM1Z as I only use a portable when I travel.
I have no problem with the so called weak mids because even when using the most bass enhancing tip (the triple comfort) I have no problem with the mids because of the clarity, you can pick up the mids just fine even in the presence of some heavy bass ( I listen to a lot of female vocals). Changing to a tip like the spin-fit will decrease the bass presence and let the mid take a step forward. Changing to the Sony Kimber balance cable will also bring forth the mid a bit but that's a fairly expensive option. Try different tips first.

The sennheiser ie600 has great mids ( great everything to my ears) If you prefer to stay sony the m9 is also good. Two questions for help regarding my Z1R:

Using the included balance cable, the loop is perfect for my ear and kept the Z1R well balance so I can wear it for over an hour with no problem. Arguably more comfortable than my Z5 with Kimber cable.who here have gold ears to even wear this comfortable for long enough?
They are my daily drivers as I use IEMs at home. I feel like I can wear them for 8+ hours, though I haven't tried them myself since I like to get out of my chair a lot. But I did use them while traveling but didn't like them as much. Walking around felt heavy and in the cabin, it was weird to be tied down to the wire (the feeling vs Airpods Pro). Though I recently got the Q5K so that might change my thoughts in the future when I do bring my Z1R out (so far, I would instead bring my S8 because of its weight and the all BA seal)who here have gold ears to even wear this comfortable for long enough?
