In a little ways north in Orange County but if you (or anyone else) venture this way I'd happily meet up somewhere for demoing. I also have a bunch of tips/cables to experiment with.

I want to share my tip info. I got the IER Z1R for couple months now. Had fit/comfort issues with both types of the stock tips. Sounds great buy annoying to wear the z1r.

Just received these tips and they work like a charm. There's no longer irritation from extended usage, and also they don't fall out so easily now. I don't notice too much change to the sound, maybe everything a bit more expansive. I am definitely keeping the IER Z1R now.

How is the ALO super litz 4.4 compared to the stock 4.4?
First of all , I find it more comfy , the z1r just sits more comfy with it in my ears . There is not and night n day difference between the two but to my ears upper mids are tad more soft with the CA and the bass hits a bit harder . Really like the pair up . Also really loving the treble of the pair up :) if you can have a try

Your impressions match mine from when I tried my andro 2020’s smokey litz on z1r. I still think the stock cable sounds the most transparent, but i agree the smokey litz is great and more fun.

Also tried Dunu Luna cable, ALO super litz and Fiio pure silver, and to my surprise none of them outperformed Z1R stock cable.

Meanwhile, all the mentioned cables sounded better on IER-M9 than with its stock cable. M9 is also a better cable rolling chameleon; distinct changes are heard in cable swaps!

It’s the super Smokey litz cable . But should not sound different to the white super litz :)

Long time lurker in the thread here. Had the Z1R for about 2 months now. Change the cable from stock balanced to M12SB1 today and noticed the sounds get a lot warmer, treble seems to take a step back. Never a believer of cable until now this really change things. Not sure for good or bad but happens to prefer Kimber over the stock cable.

The Z1R needs amping power to sound thier best. With desktop amp like topping a90 or Schiit Asgard 2 the Z1R sound much much better than Dap like N3Pro or AK SR15. The bass tumbled and the sound is very powerful and clear. But I don’t have high power Dap like the n8 or sp1000/sp2000. Those Dap might be close to desktop amp I wonder?

I have tried my Z1R with Lotoo Paw 6k, AK sp2000, AK SE200, Sony Z1, Sony Wm1A, Ibasso 220Max, Hiby R8, Chord Hugo 2.

My own preference & ranking with IER-Z1R:
1.) Sony Z1 (test unit, 2 hours)
2.) Chord Hugo 2 (own unit)
3 ) Ak SP2000 (test unit, 1 hour), Hiby R8 (test unit, 1 hour)
4.) Ibasso 220Max (test unit, 1 hour), LP6K (own unit)
5.) Sony Wm1A (test unit, 1 hour), AK SE200 (test unit, 30mins)

I tried at least the "transportable" option only...

SP2k and Hiby R8 come close to Hugo2 or Z1 but "so near yet so far"....hard to describe....haha

Is there a good carrying case someone can recommend for the IER-Z1R if I ever want to take it on the go?
