Such a small sweet spot that I had to tape where to seat, but once you are in the zone, it’s a concert hall experience:) like the Z1R.

3.6? Looks like twin RELs and Emotiva monoblocs...badass!!!

I had 2.5s with twin SVS SB2000s, but had to downsize when I moved in with my fiancée. I now have the MC1 on-wall model with the SVS subs. With a 4 year old step son, it will be a while before I get back to the floor standing models again. It will always be magnepan for me though - they bring a magical Soundstage that no other speaker can match 😊

yes indeed. Such a special speaker set aren’t they. Mines were 3.6 with upgraded Cross-overs (Goertz Air-Core Inductors/Mundorf Capacitors/Audion Capacitors) with couple of RELs. Was pain in the ass to get the phase response right.

After months of reading this thread and mulling really hard what would replace my Z5's with the hard saved money. The decision has been made and UPS, as badly as it tried to delay the delivery ( and they did a spectacular job of trying to route it to 4 random states before finally acquiescing) had just delivered, these beauties just arrived.

It mightve happened sooner but they were elusive little buggers even at their price point and all that fit issues jazz

Honest question, how much better can a set of IEMs get? I see some manufacturers selling a pair for almost $10k with 20 drivers crammed in. Are they noticeably better for music reproduction than this set? Can it get noticeably better considering identical top notch source and recording?

hold up....you're in NYC?
Hit me up, I'll let you demo :)

Really nice of you, man. I appreciate the offer. I may just pick up a pair myself to try them out, as I find it's generally tough for me to form meaningful impressions without the ability to try at my leisure over the course of a few days. Will definitely reach out if I change my mind.

I’m actually surprised you haven’t yet.

Me too.

I actually went to the Sony store in NYC a while back specifically to give these a listen, but for a some reason they didn't have them to try. You'd think it'd be a no brainer to be able to find these at a Sony store...

That’s actually quite surprising.

We haven’t had a Sony store here in Toronto for quite a while now but I remember they used to have their higher end open-back headphones to demo.
Pretty weird they didn’t have the Z1R.

Would’ve been nice to know your opinion versus the Thummim before you sold them lol

I just sold it today and haven’t even shipped them out yet, so my impressions are still fresh : )

At this point, I am looking for an iem that complements the erlky in a unique way.

the two i’m eyeing at the moment are the z1r and lx se. Looking forward to getting some ears on both in the near future...

That LX SE is also something I'm curious about and so are the Thummim and Erlky.

@Damz87 is one lucky fellow to have pretty much all the IEMs I want to own someday lol
