Sony budget earphone discussion thread (MH750, MH755, MH1C, EX300, etc)

I had planned to get some pics up sooner, but I ran into issues with the KZ silver plated 2 pin cable I was trying to use. The wires aren't color coded and I don't have a multimeter. No matter which way I wired them I couldn't get any sound. I ended up having to just use a cable I had from a pair of Sansa earbuds I wasn't using. Not the greatest quality cable ever, but it does the job and the MH755 still sounds incredible. I plan to buy several more pairs and recable them with better cables.

While you’re ordering more pairs, order a multimeter. Even a cheapy one will allow you to verify continuity for recabling, roughly measure resistance of the cables you buy, etc

Thanks. I think that will be a worthwhile investment. There have been quite a few times where it would have really helped. BTW, I uploaded a couple pics of the recabled MH755 and it doesn't seem like they showed up in my post. Is it a rule that you have to have made a certain amount of posts before you can post photos?

I believe so, but you should have enough posts now. If not, just upload them to a photo sharing site like imgur, and link them to your posts until you have enough posts to do photos.

The hype is real wow! And its a truly good call to Es100 it for convenience in carrying while connected to a DAP that is bigger than Sansa Clip :)

This is the first time I have seen how the Es100 is used. I see you have not put the longer part of the J cable behind your neck. Maybe, like me, you do not like the feeling of that?

Did the mmcx mod with another pair of mh755. Total BOM came at around 8.70 usd with the earbuds included.

Is it just me or is the mh755 better sounding when the inside is mostly empty space?

It is not just you, I have noticed that some cables change the sound, in my case it is more analytical and the bass has been reduced with 8-core cable.

On another note, did someone else get shocked (as in electrically shocked) when they are using their mmcx modded mh755s? Just played groove coaster on the arcades and can't use them because of that prickly sensation. Normal recabled ones are fine though.

Edit: Any other source is fine, I got the buzz from just that particular arcade machine fr some reason lol

I just wanted to show their usage. I don't think I can run the cable from behind of my neck.

Only the longer side, the right goes behind your neck...that is why it is longer.

Alright, I'm going to try to upload them again. Not that my cabling job is anything special, but just to share what I ended up doing as a second resort to get a longer cable on them. I plan to do a couple more recabling jobs on a few MH755s I have ordered. Probably an MMCX cable mod on one of them.

Here's the link to the photos on imgur since
it doesn't seem like the upload on this site is working for me.

I think you have to have 20 or maybe 30 posts before you can attach photos.

Just do the Three Word Story game thread for a couple of days... or any similar thread. Just click on recent posts for ideas.

I just ordered 2 white MH755s for the first time. First one from seller "xirui_01" in Hong Kong,* and second from "rwtf3024" in China. Hope I did alright.

There was a guy in the U.K. too, I think, but I forgot the link. There's a U.S. seller, spassear, but his go for $8 instead of $5. I like the colour selection.

*Except he calls it an HM755?

Spassear is 100% A-OK. I’ve bought a number of them from him. The few extra dollars he charges is worth the peace of mind.

I mean, in the grand scheme of things even $8 vs $5 is a mere pittance for these things.
