Wish there were DIY tutorials on how to do detachable cable mod on this particular IEM.

With limited experience soldering stuff, don't really have a lot of confident doing it myself :frowning2:

There is. It’s a pictorial guide. If you search this thread you’ll find it. It’s been posted a few times.

Be aware that the mmcx mod is not exactly the easiest mod. I would strongly recommend you go the recable route first, especially due to your level of soldering experience.

On a scale of difficulty, a recable would be like a 4 out of 10, and the mmcx would be a 7.5 out of 10. Maybe down the road when you have more modding/soldering experience, try the mmcx mod.

Of course that’s just a friendly recommendation. If you’re feeling up to a challenge and don’t care if you destroy a few as a learning experience, by all means try the mmcx mod. It would definitely help hone your skills.

Difficult on the MMCX mod?! I'd give it a 3 out of 10 myself. The hardest part was just getting a drill that matched the diameter of the mmcx.. and that wasn't hard. Took me maybe 20-30 mins?

What is easy for you might still be difficult for someone else. No one should feel bad about not having experience.

Well that was the first one I ever did/tried. Was really easy!

That’s awesome that it was easy for you. It’s very easy for me as well.

However there are 7 billion other people in the world besides you and me. Some may find it even easier than you or me, and may rate it a 1/10. But then again, some may find it more difficult than you and me, and may rate it a 10/10.

The fact still remains that a simple recabling is significantly easier than the mmcx (I’d consider it half the difficulty), and can be done in 5 minutes or less depending on the cable used. That’s all I was trying to convey in my post above.

And some, while they may understand WHAT to do, will be physically unable to do it due to issues with their hands or eyes.

Agreed. I know audiophiles who can’t remove the cap from an aspirin bottle. And I know others who can build pro-grade CIEMs from scratch in a few hours. I think the majority of us are somewhere in between.

But regardless, all are welcome and encouraged no matter what their skill level or abilities :)

and there are some who might have the capability to learn and do it, but don't have the time or rather trust the task to the more experienced

kudos to the more nimble fingered fellow!

I'm gonna try to both recable and mmcx mod on my pairs. Just got my cable and female mmcx connectors in.

Now got to get my soldering iron and supplies back from my brother in law.

Yes, that is a nice cable. Probably not easy to bring through the strain relief but try if you can. I think some people have had to shorten the strain reliev a little. I only have thin cables in mine.
