So...who's using Windows 7 right now?

I'm very happy with 7 so far. I installed it on a 3.0Ghz P4 with 2 gigs of ram and every thing works (Including Aero). Right now its using 20% of the ram.

One of my friends installed it on an eee pc and he said it works great. The Search in the start menu is slow but that's about all he said.

When it goes in to standby it takes about 3 sec's to come back up instead of the 10 to 15 that xp does. If they fix the wierd sound problems that I was having with vista I may switch to 7 when it is released.

Does it freeze for anyone else when you open All Programs -> Games?

Hm, says july second here. Ah well, I guess we can take the release candidate for a spin well before that date.

Homegroup is very nice by the way. Just tested it shortly and it does exactly what I hoped it would. Allows me access to data on other computers at home, automatically shares printers, and best of all adds the libraries to Media Player. It finally takes home networking to a 2009 level.

All programs/games works fine here?

I have the feeling that resuming from hibernation is a tad slower than it was in XP. But with all Thinkvantage stuff and Superfetch etc already loaded in the memory it is still way faster than normal boot. Sleep is just as it always was, near instant.

I also love how it plays nice with my campus' network. Everyone is fooling around with third party tools while 7 just promts for a login and runs with it. Basically just like OSX and Linux have been doing for years, but I'm happy nonetheless

I installed last night. I must admit I am pleased with a first round Beta. If this is to be improved upon it should turn out to be quite the OS. Upon install it found all drivers. I was quite impressed when it found my Brother Laser Printer and had it connected wirelessly without a hitch in a matter of seconds.

It took a 1 1/2 for boot from starting Windows message. Not too bad. It seems to be very smooth and stable. I love that it seems to not ask for confirmation for everything you do as Vista did for me.

I currently run XP Pro on one machine and Leopard on my iMac. My first impressions include this OS as having the chance to be well received.

Just received my key from microsoft and downloading my legit copy of windows 7. Will install it on my second hd and give it a try. Installed it on a few Notebooks at work and it is pretty quick. Looking forward to testing it with games.

For those who like the dock on OSX, you can use rocket dock, it works on the 7 Beta. So far so good, makes the desicion of all mac or all windows harder.

I picked up an Acer Aspire One today, literally the first thing i did was put Windoes 7 on it.

I'll probably just commit to Mac, I'm tired of having software spread out between the two set ups. Even the same software on different platforms isn't exactly identical. My two main focuses are Photo edits and Music (listening). I just don't want to give up my kick ass PC gear. I don't game enough to justify keeping it. It's a toss up between a Thinkpad W500 or another MBP. Price is about the same, it will be a desktop replacement.

I think it was stated in the Microsoft keynote that it wasn't going to be a free upgrade. I'm sure they will offer an upgrade version less than a full retail version.

Interesting. I solved most of my problems when I moved from XP to Vista (32 bit). IE7 locks up occasionally, but Vista has been good to me.
Got 7 downloaded today and I will try it on my spare pc (dell sc1420 Xenon) and see how it goes.

I've been using it for almost a week now on my Gateway M-Series laptop. Other than random system freezing (third time now) that requires a hard reboot, screen/pixel corruption and a video driver crash, broken FTP folder access ("The handle is invalid" error message), and Windows Explorer crashing randomly when viewing folders containing many files or containing a few high-res 96/24 wav files (progress bar shows it loading indefinitely or it brings up a completely blank, white window), it works great.

Overall, it might live up to some of its hype for XP users, but for users coming from Vista, it's pretty much the same experience except for a bit more polish to the UI. The taskbar is now more similar to the Mac OS X dock (pin to taskbar), which I like.
