Shure SRH1540 Review

I'm considering the SRH1540 now and for use with my WM1A, good to hear they pair well.

Great choice. I have 2,800 hours on that combo from the 4.4mm output. LQI cables (copper) work wonderfully!

Hey all, I'm diving deeper into headphones by the day. I have been selling or giving away a lot of my cans to keep just my current truly enjoyable ones; I have the 1540's arriving today.

I have read a lot of pages and I can't seem to get an answer; is the connection from the cables to the headphones MMCX? I have the Zen Can/Dac and want to get a 4.4 balanced cable. I'm in Canada so it is a bit slim pickings. Or is there another name for the connectors?

Thanks!

They use MMCX but because of how narrow and recessed the connectors are on the 1540 you have to be careful which cables you buy. I think Surf Cables ships to Canada and they make cables specifically for the 1540

$105 USD plus shipping and exchange becomes very costly.

I currently have an IEM 4.4 balanced cable and a 4.4 balanced for my monolith 1070's. Maybe I'll just enjoy the wonderful world of balance with just these 2 for now until a little bit of a cheaper option presents itself.

Yeah, they can get pricey. You can probably find something for half the cost on eBay, but it'll probably be coming from China so just have to deal with longer shipping time and a little more risk in terms of quality

Yes, it is MMCX, but different than most IEM MMCX cables. If you go to most cable websites, LQI cables for instance, it lists headphone model under headphone connection type. LQI OCC copper headphone cables are an incredible value! A beautifully braided and put together cable.

I see exactly what you mean. Those look amazing for sure... probably end up getting these soon.

You could also get a drill bit in equal width to regular MMCX connectors and open up all the cable options. I believe a chap earlier in the thread did just that!
MMCX connectors can be very FRAGILE, if there's any wiggle room, so I hesitate to use anything other than a very tight fitting cable. LQI is very tight and secure and I never had any cut out. I have had other cables that fit more Loosely and had cut out. I really believe that company makes a top notch cable, for the price. Some of these companies are ridiculous in charging up to $700 for a cable. But then again, I am very big at leaving everything stock. Other than aftermarket cables.

Hey, I’m in Canada and got this cable for my 1540. I like it a lot. It’s a bit microphonic, but I only use it at home and it’s not enough to bother me. Works well with my M11P and was a huge improvement in sound.

Thank you! I appreciate the link. I think it looks good, but not exactly what I'm looking for. I think I may just bite the bullet and get the Surf cable. I have completed my current headphone/ amp goals at this time, so this would be my last purchase for the, hopefully, forseeable future. Lol.
