Many cables cost as much as headphones and it sounds counter inituitve to me. Cant stop wonder if these cable biz has one of the highest margin after gasoline and diamond.
Don't be silly...
It has a much higher margin than both of those!

Balanced Cable will add more power and will clean up some noise... but it won't change sound drastically... About cable itself, I wasn't able to find any for a reasonable price...

Is $100-110 unreasonable -- https://www.surfcables.com/products/shure-srh-1540-cables ? (not cheap, anyway).
Reterminate stock cable would cost you as little as 6$ for connector... And less then 1$ for a flus. So IMO even 100$ for something that can be done with your hands and will cost u 7$ is too much.Is $100-110 unreasonable -- https://www.surfcables.com/products/shure-srh-1540-cables ? Tried dozens of headphones and IEMs today. Only like the Meze Neo 99. So far I only like my Sony 1AM2, Shure 1540, and Meze 99. The only thing bothering is to get balanced cables for the Shure or Meze. Wondering if a balanced cable will make the sound signficantly better.
Has anybody heard the slightest peep as to when the 1540 will have a successor?
Does it need one?
So here is the result of a retermination from TRS to Balanced XLR.
Actually, original cable is not good... Shure did a really BAD job and combined both grounds after Y splitter So my only option was to cut off cables that go to cups above Y splitter and throw the rest to trash. For the main cable, I used the balanced cable that i got from the Massdrop. Chopped off original 2.5 connectors (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/56947) and then ironed all that together.
I really thought that when a cable is split into two caps it should have separated grounds...
