Hip-Hop/R&B/Pop has plenty of that missing (or improperly reproduced) deep sub-bass (that you say is rare in your electronic music collection). I (like you) am hoping the SE846 covers that deep  sub-bass sound in a manner similar to the way a subwoofer would (with the appropriate lingering note).

It does linger.  Won't say it's like a real subwoofer as the impact is not really there.  I would still prefer bass from good dynamic drivers.  But it has definitely more deep extended sub-bass over any past shures.

That's a really complicated deal you managed to swing, but congrats :) My first extended period with some Shures, and I gotta say I love the vocals... None of my other 'phones have gotten any playtime since I got these!

I'm just guessing :) Anyway, what matters are the phones themselves! Hope you enjoy them!

I find punchy bass to be sneaky fatiguing (long-term). Plus, BAs don't have an exhaust. I do imagine dynamic drivers are more realistic.

I look forward to getting these in what is becoming the last place for new releases (the U.S.) even for an American based company.

Just gotten an opportunity to grab these babies for SGD1000 (USD750) brand new! Will be heading down to give them a proper audition this weekend. So excited!

That's really cheap. Did you get it at the Mook festival? Didn't know their promo price was that cheap.. makes me wonder what other promo prices there were

Throw in "take over someone ELSE's buy one get one free deal" and you may have hit bullseye :)

That was my guess anyway..

This is becoming more and more complicated. Man, there are too many choice, K3003, IE800, Togo 334, JH16 and JH13 etc... and now SE846. I wish there is a place/festival in the East coast where you can try them all at once so you can compare/decide.
