This search for the ultimate sound did strike me as some holy grail type quest of madness.....these threads are confirming it

"I can even add that the SE846 is comparable to top of the line custom IEMs from JHAudio, UE, Unique Melody and the others. It was a full, well balanced sound with good mids and good bass. While I didn’t A-B it to the flagship 6-driver customs, I really felt that it can easily be a substitute for the customs. The only thing that is missing was perhaps the low sub-bass frequencies which the 846 failed to hit as deep as say a JH13/16 though Shure claimed the 846 to have a “true” subwoofer design which I would consider to be true if you’re talking a PC-speaker subwoofer."
This seems to answer the question I posed to you Jude, however Mike admits to only having 3 minutes with the unit so invariably I am still highly interested in what you have to say about the unit. However if I can get 98.5% of my 16s in a togo package, in order to preserve my 16s life, that may do it for me, still need impressions however (RMAA would be nice too, but more interested in impressions)
I also don't take Headfonia reviews too seriously. I end up disagreeing more than agreeing in a lot of their recent reviews.
yea, but he only had 3 minutes.. how thorough do i expect his musings to be, just a tiny data point. which is why i still want judes impression (as i think he had them for a whole week)
Missing bass freq? I am telling you why, that guy tried to listen to SE846 (9 ohm impedance) with Tera Player (10 or 20 ohms output impedances depending on the HO he used). He seems like he knows much and he claims TP is the best dap ever but he doesn't even know how TP changes the FR graph of c/iems and headphones he doesn't even know the basic concepts of these rules.
The saddest thing is, people still take headfonia and Mike seriously.
I don't want to buy those as they are very expensive, got the Inear Soundstage SD3, but now you can get the SE846 with 18% off until the 4th july.
earphonesolutions.
