Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

Listen to gun fire sound at high volume, 535 end fast while kse will bring a tail of the sound.

Maybe what you really hear here is not a tail from an impulse response -- I'm not sure if any of us would have golden ears enough to analyse impulse responses, who knows? But maybe what you really heard is just the reverbs after the gunshot. That would prove KSE to have in fact better highs than 535. Or at least more accentuated, as we find this 10 kHz resonance problematic with KSE.

Verdict: in the long run I prefer Sensaphonics shells, even if @csglinux hates them
Hate is a strong word  It's just that to each of our unique ears, some things are slightly better than others :)

Nice work with all your measurements, buddy!

Tried the AK SPK with my KSE-1500 a few months ago and compared it with itself under an AK380. The SPK is substantially better. Now what I am most curious about is how will the new SPKM fair with the KSE-1500 compared with the SPK. AFAIK the SPKM has better balanced output but slightly worse regular unbalanced 3.5mm. Eager to hear from anyone who has compared the new SPKM with the SPK spotting the KSE-1500. The thing is that, while moving, my friend accidentally threw my AK380 away so I am wondering whether the SPK or SPKM is the one I should take right now.

Yea, Also Sp1k Cu is better than WM1Z by a slight margin, and I attest that Hugo2 is slightly better than Sp1k. I have just traded my Cu for M, so I will not be able to do A/B test, but at least give you some subjective opinion in several days. I think not many people own all of these devices together...

I've done an A/B with SPK SS and WM1Z with KSE-1500 and I like the SPK SS more. Never tried the Hugo 2. The only downside I can think of with the Hugo2 is no 'balanced' output (completely independent channel grounds) as I have replaced most of my headphones with AK specified 2.5mm TRRS plugs.

The thing I called "tail of sound" seems happened to my denon d2000 and senn hd650 in the past. I don't think that is reverb bcs reverb, if has, will be heard on 535 also.
Only 535 cut out that tail (in other words, 535 did not produce the tail).
That is not short of time, but I've not forgot. So when I bought kse, I tried to verify it again.

Any one has a good case for your kse but not from Shure? . Where did you buy it?
Mine is end of life, need to order another one
Search for Dignis. Import from South Korea I'm afraid. It looks very nice. But it has nothing to attach to your belt.

The DAC in KSE1500 seems wasted for many who have a good portable player.
I would gladly pay for an upgrade if they came with either a balanced AMP for KSE or even a DACAMP with an SD card slot (and double AKM4497 DAC onboard). That'd be great.

That's why Shure came up with the KSE1200 (a KSE1500 minus the DAC). And also why I purchased one.
:)

It is better to request a hole on sp1000 for plug in a kse1500. That's end game.
Sp1000+kse (amp) = heavy big brick
