Shure E500/E530 Cable Poll

I sent mine off on saturday the 15th and they were delivered and signed for on monady the 17th. I think that is the fastest that i've ever seen usps send a package that wasn't marked 'overnight'

Now just waiting for the return

Bought used from a friend so mine have been in use for over a year. No cable issues at all.

I just re read this thread, and I am trying to determine if any of the 'E500' have been updated with the new cable or are only the 'SE' models?

I just got my replacement pair today and sadly, the manufacture date is 9 weeks earlier than the pair that developed the hardening and eventual crack. I suspect that these will do the same eventually.

From the 15th the 26th, 11-day turn around, not bad. Too bad the replacement are more of the same. Looks like Shure is dumping their old stock on us.
I'm boxing mine up now, thanks for the heads-up of what to expect.

Bought a pair of e500 about 2 weeks ago, and the cable is getting stiff already

I wonder how long will it last before breaking...

I sent my broken E500s (w/o case, pth, etc..) to Shure via USPS on October 4th, Thursday. Shure received on Tuesday the 9th--8th was a Federal holiday. I received the replacement pair today, the 17th, via UPS.

The replacements came in a full-up SE530PTH box, sealed, metal inside plastic. Although inside, the iems look like my old E500s but fitted with black olives, the production date code is 3196 (11/16/06), stamped not embossed. The wire casing feels the same as before. The accessories include the airline adapter, more olives, and the other item included with the E500s.

So what did I get? Not '07 SE530s but definitely much more than I anticipated.

Kudos to Sugarfried and the Shure team.

Shazbot!

I had no problems whatsoever with my E500 till yesterday.

I grab them from my bag to put them on my ears, and while doing that, I notice an orange spot near the left earpart... orange on my E500? weird? they re black!

...

The cable was cracked and I could see the copper wires..

I bought them one year ago from nachy1818 on ebay and of course, I dont have a proof of purchase. I emailed nachy asking him if he could send me one, so I'll wait for his reply but I'm a bit worried

You don't need a proof of purchase. Shure will use the date code for to verify the age.

Thanks for the advice! I sent them a mail

Go back and read page 5 of this thread. You'll find very reassuring information provided by Sugarfried regarding warranty coverage for this cable problem.

I think the date code is printed on the Y-connector, a 4-digit code, e.g. 2456 = manufactered on the 245th day of 2006.

Awesome, thanks man!

Looks like I've still got a warranty on mine, fantastic.

Your 2 year warranty period starts from time of purchase, not based on the date your headphones were manufactured, just in case this wasn't clear. After reading your post I was under the impression that you thought otherwise. Seeing as you just recently got your e500s you should be more than safe.
