Same here (I love the BLON 03, but the Tape is noticably better to my ear).
To my surprise, I don't find the 3kHz peak piercing, sibilant or shouty at all, it's a surprise because I consider myself fairly treble sensitive, and really dislike sibilant or shouty gear.
I assumed that I'd have to EQ or micropore to really fully enjoy the Tape, but I don't think I'll bother, yet anyway.
Very impressed by both (BLON is astonishing value, except for fit) But I enjoy Tape quite a lot more.

I agree. I’m usually VERY sensitive to the 3-4KHz range, when it’s too prominent. Yet, I can listen to the Tape w/o any EQ, and still enjoy it. I usually do EQ down that peak, b/c it makes it sound more even and natural, and the mids don’t sound quite as recessed. I tried different variations of the MP tape mod, but still haven’t found a mod that works well, to my ears. It can even out the treble nicely, but always makes the bass boomy and muddy.

I always open to any suggestions though!

I really appreciate the tape, especially for the bass (impact ans sub) and the precise highs.
It pairs well with the M11pro.

Ive just sold my Phillips fidelio x2's.
The tape is an upgrade on those too.
Its nuts really.
I paid £300 for those with the dragonfly v1.2.
The tape with shanling mo - £230.

Not at this time It seems. BGGAR just went on a rant about it. It made sense. Why don‘t they try and fine tune the deficiencies of the Tape, unless they don’t want to eat in to the sales of the EJ07? The EJ07 is really a different beast all together though.

Yeah that video of his also made me wonder about it.

I would be extremely happy if the cut down the 3,5k peak and increased the mids. Maybe even give it a more "normal" build like the ej07 so it doesn't look so strange and fit better.

That‘s what I would change as well, and in fact is what I do change with EQ.

I’ve been tempted by the EJ07 since they first came out. I know it’s silly, but at their price point, I can’t seem get over the look of the faceplate.

I would probably get the ST7 if I want the EJ07, becasue they got the same sound (?) at a cheaper price during sales (around 550 usd). But now we have the Tri starlight, JQ Hua Jiang so will wait for more comparison. Cant afford to gamle on a set I dont like at this price point.

The quad EST is what makes the EJ07 truly unique. You won't get that in a tape successor bc it would raise the price significantly. EJ07 is competing at the almost kilobuck price point so not really worth comparing with the tape.
That said a tape successor that fixes the peak and its build quality would be a huge hit

@Hisma has anyone had a pola39 and EJ07 to compare? The only EST iem ive heard are the pola and pola39 and i have no idea how EJ07 compare. Wonder if its worth the buy what you think
