I don't know, I never used EAX, so I wouldn't know/don't care. To me, when I did play games, they sounded the same and there was no hit to the frame-rate when switching to the kX drivers.
I played a bit of UT, UT2K3, and UT2K4 with the kX drivers and headphones.. I tried EAX sometimes.. I preferred the game without EAX. I could still hear everything, but it didn't have nasty reverb. With the kX drivers, the sound quality improved pretty significantly.
