So...I love the T1, but should I go balanced?  What are the sonic benefits.  Also, I like the cable very much so I will probably just reterminate the stock if I go balanced.

if your amp is balanced i dont know why you would use it se.

also completely unrelated question, but I do notice how much softer the pads of the DT880 and DT990 are, do the T1 pads soften over time and use?

My amp is balanced, but I am weary of changing the sound in negative way.........I feel there are rare instances where a balanced headphone can sound worse in some regard and I dont hear of many people using the T1 balanced.

if the amps balanced its made to be used balanced and probably is better balanced .

I don't have 880 or 990 but T1's pad does seems to be softer over time though.

T1 stock cable is very easy to reterminate to balanced XLR. You can even reterminate back to SE easily if you don't like the sound.

Yes, you should! Just reterminate your current cable with some XLR plugs and make a balanced to single ended adapter.
